Root problems with latest ota update and flashing image

hello all, i apoligize in advance if this is a stupid question or has been covered before. im at my wits end today trying to get my nexus 9 back in order. for alittle while now my nexus has been saying there is an update, im guessing to 5.1.1 (LMY48I). evry time i attempt to install the update and restart it it ends up with an error image. i tried wiping the cache and that did nothing. as a last resort i did a factory reset and thats when things got wonky. the factory reset seriously messed stuff up. my tablet would not even make it out of the start up wizard half the times i tried. some times it got to home and then went to a black screen only showing the wifi status and time. some times it went through to the home screen but every app i open force closes and none of my apps would download or update.

so i said screw it ill flash the new update myself. trying to follow a couple tutorials i made several attempts. i got the bootloader unlocked, had the adb drivers and flashboot installed, downloaded the factory image from google and extracted everything in its own file. everytime i tried to execute the flash all it went through and said error the image and other things are missing.

its getting frustrating. im not an expert at this by any means. im surprised i manage to do most of the things that i do lol. if anyone is feeling generous and wants to lay this process out straight for me in laymans terms i would be extremely grateful. thanks alot

I finally got it figured out using the NRT, had to use force flash
