I love the feel of my new Motorola Droid! The constant announcement of gmail incoming is sure to drive me crazy if I don't find a way to turn it off. I think I will enjoy this phone when I figure out how to use it.

welcome
you can silence the gmail app by opening Gmail --> hit menu and settings. You can tell the notification sound to be silence and turn off vibrate (if you have it on).
