Help Remove phone features from a GNEX?

Hey guys, long time follower but first post.

My Verizon GNEX's radio kicked the bucket but, the wifi still works great.

Is there any way to get rid of all mobile related apps and functions through a rom or something??

Basically I'd like to turn it into a mini-tablet.

Thanks in advance!

I've never heard of a rom that did this, but your best bet is probably to just use it in airplane mode. You'll save a bit of battery, although you won't be able to use things like the radio or bluetooth.

Thanks for the reply.

Wouldn't airplane mode disable WiFi as well?

If memory serves on mine, it did. I mean, you could disable mobile data and whatnot, which would get you halfway there. Other than that tho, yeah, don't think I've heard of a tablet-only style ROM for a phone. Obviously apps can be removed through ROMs and whatnot, but you'd still have certain options in menus and things. Probably looking at trying to get someone to try to code a custom ROM specifically to eliminate some of those.

When you initially turn on Airplane mode, it will switch off an active WiFi radio, but you can turn wifi on again and itll work just fine.

Maybe it was my Bolt that didn't. I just remember having a phone that Airplane mode turned everything off, and wouldn't let you toggle it back on. Was annoying lol.

i use my gnex as a little tablet....don't have cell service. it is the best little media player.

and yeah, put in airplane mode. that will turn off wifi. then turn on wifi, and you are good to go. the cell radio will be disabled, but the wifi radio is good to go. same with bluetooth.

btw, i use my gnex for voip calls and text, with talkatone (using google voice number). it's all free.
