RIP Lauren Bacall

She was a fine actress and quite a looker of her day. RIP

BTW, Maureen O'Hara is still living. Turns 94 the 17th of this month. But yes, most all from that golden age of cinema are gone. :(

Bacall was a true star, picked off the street (or rather the catwalk) by Howard Hughes' wife, who exploded onto the screen in her very first role. She had charisma, sex appeal and strength of character, traits that made her one of the first truly 'liberated women'. I'm sure I'm not the only young man who learned to whistle thanks to Lauren. ;)

"I've been very lucky in life", she said when accepting her honourary Oscar in 2010. Movie fans were equally lucky in enjoying your performances, Ms Bacall. You will be missed.
