Bacall died yesterday at 89. With her passing there are very, very few remaining major actors from Hollywood's golden age.

My wife and I spent part of our honeymoon in the same inn (The Inn at Mystic) that Bogey and Bacall did, though not at the same time.
Classy lady. She'll be missed.

Bacall was a true star, picked off the street (or rather the catwalk) by Howard Hughes' wife, who exploded onto the screen in her very first role. She had charisma, sex appeal and strength of character, traits that made her one of the first truly 'liberated women'. I'm sure I'm not the only young man who learned to whistle thanks to Lauren.
