Help ROM/Android update HTC Hero

Ok.. bit of a noob here!
I have just aquired a htc hero. Last night I downloaded the ROM update from the HTC site.
To my knowledge it installed/updated my phone correctly..
However when I go to "about phone" menu the "Firmware version" still says "1.5"
Does this mean it hasn't worked correctly?

The "build number" section below is now says "2.73.110.26"

Is this teh same as updating android?

.. I don't know if this is correct or not.. sorry if I am being a numpty.

You now have the latest published build for the G2/Hero.

It's still 1.5 but has optimizations in HTC Sense. The Original 1.76 build was quite laggy.

Android 2.1 is supposed to be imminent - we shall see.

The pre-update is now rolling out and will take your build number to 2.73.110.91
