Root [rom] miui4dx 1.8.19[updated 8/23/2011]

Anyone trying out the 5 point lockscreens? They look awesome and give a little more functionality. Btw, I'm a huge fan of the theme changer, mixing and matching theme parts is awesome. Right now I'm using most of the WP7 Dark theme. Its like I have the best parts of androids, windows, and iOS lol

Yea! I love the custom lockscreens. I'm currently using this one and I like the music controls that show up with a double tap.

Any of you change your LCD density? I've always changed mine to 190 so everything isn't grandma-like huge. Everything has worked out great except that it seems most lockscreens don't line up correctly :[ The stock one works just fine.. so perhaps I'll have to modify other lockscreens somehow?

So let's see, since people are having a hard time seeing it, let's go over all of the modifications included in MIUI:

- New dialer, SMS app, contacts app, gallery, camera, notes, file manager and music apps (gee, you'd think I could stop there, since that's half of the stock functionality anyway)

- Nice traffic monitoring/firewall app

- System backup feature

- Swipable notification bar to give you a toggles panel with some interesting functions like a guest mode

- Fully modular theme manager, so you can take any part of any theme you want and piece it all together until you make your favorite mashup

- New lock screen with features like unlocking directly to an app (SMS or dialer), and a singularly awesome feature where you can hold the Home button on the lock screen and directly activate the LED flashlight - without it causing your phone to unlock

- Totally revamped Settings application with far MORE settings than stock, a better layout, and direct access to commonly modified settings sections like Call settings, Gmail settings, etc.

- New battery display option where you can display the battery as a line across the top of the screen and pull it out of the notification bar

- Direct access to screen shot capabilities

That's all pretty much off the top of my head... I'm sure there's more.

So why, again, is this "just CM7"? I guess ApeX and Liberty and such were "just Blur."
yup that exactly what they are/were and just cooked at that so not even any changes on the code level.

As I said before I'm not knocking the MIUI ROM because it is very nice and its obvious alot of work went into it. just not for me, if I wanted an iphone thats what I would have bought lol.

Trooper.......

I'm having the same BT issues as a number of other people. It connects once, I can make calls just fine. I turn my car off (or turn off my headset) and when I turn it back on it shows on the phone that the BT is connected but I can't make calls over BT, it will dial but there is no audio. If I turn the bluetooth radio off on my phone and back on it will typically pair again, but one of the 3 times I tried this morning it did not and I had to do it a second time.

I'm not sure if this is going to make me jump ship or not yet but I use bluetooth constantly in my car and at home (I'm on call for work a lot and it is much easier to type with a headset on) so it is kind of important to me.

Aside from that, why is car home not in this rom? I had to add it back in from the apks I had saved on my SD.

EDIT: Battery is about on par, for my use, with CM7. Draining about 10% an hour. That being said I am a heavy text user.

Thank you, this looks good with my lock screen wallpaper. One question though, shouldn't double tapping the clock bring up the music controls? It doesn't seem to work with this lock screen.

you'll want to double tap just above the lock icon and below the clock on this one. Basically where the play button would be.

After being on this now for 4 full days I can say this is the rom for me. This is what I love about Android is that there are so many different options for people to be able to try. I know there are people who liked the original blur (not sure they knew there was something better) some people who like the new blur (Steven) and so on. I could not ever get an iPhone because of closeness it has. However it does have a very polished and clean looking operating system. To me Miui has taken what is nice about the iPhone and given us the option to run this on the best platform, Android.

The native apps with this: dialer, contacts, messaging, music, gallery, menus and so on are great to me.

Are there bugs with this rom, yes. But to be honest I think there has been one or two things that I have not liked on each rom that I have tried and that is most of them. The trades off on this just seem to be better than the others, in my opinion.

Plus thanks to people here I keep learning more and more tricks that I really like about Miui.

Hey brother, sorry to hear that man.

My issue was it was a bitch and a half to even get paired with my car (Acura TL Type S) but once it was paired, it would never connect to bluetooth audio. I tried different things but in the end gave up. This was a deal breaker for me with MIUI so I had to switch ROM's.

I hear you on Car Home. Dunno, maybe the Chinese don't know what that is lol!

As for battery life, I believe that I was getting a bit better than that out of the box, but yeah since its a CM7 based ROM it makes sense over all. Btw, I'm a heavy text user as well.

Bro, OMFGB is dropping tonight. :) I plan to flash this once its released. Keep an eye on this thread here.

Yeah, it isn't a big hassle for me to restart it when I get in the car but it is one more thing to remember as I speed out of the parking lot to head home. :) However, framework did say he was going to address it for Friday's update

Car home was lost between a lot of the 596 based roms so I kept the apks. glad I did when I got in my car this morning and it didn't work.

Awesome, thx. Having theme changer is a big deal to me so I will probably be flashing this when it drops...... I'm really a ROM whore these days. :D

I need a bigger SD for all these nandroids. good thing I'm in the GoogleMusic beta so I took most of my MP3s off my card. lol

Awesome that he is going to fix the bt issues for Friday. I may be back, unless OMFGB wows me that much more, but MIUI sure is sweet!

I've become a rom whore again this past week or so, so I know what you mean lol.

Damn what size sd card do you have now? 16gig I presume?

Yeah, I'm down to about 4GB. Another backup will have me down around 3. lol

I use dropbox to send a bunch of stuff to my phone (APKs and what not) so that takes up some space as well.

Wow bro! I delete a lot of my nandroids after I'm done with that ROM which has saved me a lot of space etc.

Dropbox yeah I hear that, I'm almost at capacity but I'm too cheap to buy one of their plans lol.

Battery life on day two of the liquid rom seems a lil bit worse Im at 79% after four hours and 48 minutes. Dont care though as I will be flashing a new rom soon enough.
