been reading the posts about people not impressed with the 4. i have the 2 and love it. rooted and hot spotted. works flawless. but im a consumer and i signed up for the one up plan with sprint last year so i get the upgrade. but im holding off til somebody roots it. anybody break in yet? thanks if you know;)

Root is not clean. It is just a patch up because nobody has been able to break the bootloader. I never own a Samsung and I might get the N4.

Unfortunately t-mobile isn't as good coverage wise as Verizon and AT&T so that doesn't help many of us that won't touch t-mobile with a ten foot pole.
Good thing you don't have to be on T-Mobile to use the note, buy it outright take it to att

Root yet? The thing was only just announced a few hours ago. Have patience!
It took them a few days and weeks to crack open the S5. Carriers can make root more difficult as well by locking bootloaders on their subsidised phones. Because they don't want their subscribers to be removing and disabling the pre-installed sports affiliate stuff, like Verizon and the NFL.

I thought Note 3 is never rooted. Something about the Knox that nobody can change it to this day.

Note 3 had root before release, or very shortly thereafter I believe. I've been rooted since the day I got it.

Root and Knox trip are 2 different thing?
Not all Note 3s have Knox counters, but that might depend on country and carrier. But if you do it right you can get root without tripping Knox. But what does blow Knox though is flashing a custom recovery, like CWM or TWRP. Because you've compromised the secure boot.

One of the few advantages of anything mobile up here in Canada is that practically every carrier sells their varients with an UNlocked boot loader! :).. In recent times there have been many US carriers with various high end phones that had the bootloader locked down but all of those phones came unlocked up here.. No idea why but we like it! I assume and hope that this N4 and more future phones continue to come with unlocked bootloaders...but won't surprise me if it changes some day.

For the above post; there is a .zip to remove knox on the note 3. My wife has a 3 and never had issues rooting or with knox. Hot spot works perfect too. Now about 4 root. Yes, patience is in order for me. In the past, new phones have been given to some tech writers and others tech related. Of course, rooting would be worked on and ready prior, or at least perfected, but I digress. mskip creates toolkits for various android phones and tablets which I highly recommend. I have used his s4, note 2 and note 8 kits with no problems. The kit comes with tons of options. I emailed him about the 4 and he will be making a toolkit for at least the sprint version. His server is skipsoft.net and he may mirror it to goo.im. keep an eye out for it.:D

Every note 3 has knox, there is 2 layers of knox. the bootloader flag everyone cries over, and the syetms files. the system files are in place to help them secure it for business aspects so you can use it as a work phone and a personal phone. its a lot like you think of norton and you think of of antivirus but at this point its all inclusive protection.

remove teh system based files, there is no way to remove knox from the bootloader.

Ur right. I personally didnt use the .zip, just froze it. Most likely tripped the counter. Not too worried about trading in for an upgrade as sales staff wont even bother to check

yea i dont care myself if i trip it or not, i plan getting it with sprint and sprint has never had any issues helping with hardware related issues even when its running a custom rom.

if you have have a locked bootloader or dont want to trip knox then yea. if you dont care and have an unlocked model you just flash recovery and then flash whatever you want in it. i would be pretty surprised to find an exploit come out any time soon after launch, so those with locked bootloaders and those who dont wnat to trip knox may be SOL.

I have a note 3 rooted unlocked knox tripped and it dont matter if it is tripped or not I have had 3 note 3's with tmobile and they dont care I have looked at the codeing as I am sure some have and it looks So similar that I am sure a CF root will be out day 1 if you do not care about tripping Knox,

Yeah I rooted my wife's 3 and no issues either. I'm keeping my eye out for the root and the 4. Wooo hooo. Skipsoft will be working on a root as well

rooted my note 3 on day 1 and didnt care if Knox was tripped or not. a year later and it hasn't made a single difference. rooting is so painless these days. I wouldn't call myself extremely tech savvy but I had absolutely zero worries about rooting or bricking my phone or anything like that.
t mobile ftw.

Yeah it went from pretty complicated (I know cuz I hard bricked my evo) to one click. Sweetness.

yeah I have never seen a 1 click root for the 3
but I always use the long way you learn alot about the device when you do that instead of just point and click
