Root rooting question

I get horrible 3G speeds on this phone. Sprint hasn't rolled out LTE in south Florida yet and this is the worst 3G I've ever experienced. I know it's most probably to do with their towers having problems but this has been going on ever since I got the phone 4 days ago. I was thinking about rooting it and installing stock jellybean to see if that improves anything but first wanted to know how hard it is to root it, and secondly if anyone has done it and if it improved their 3G speed.

Thanks

If you have the phone updated to JellyBean and have the latest firmware, rooting won't improve your reception sadly. :(

Rooting is possible for this phone to allow complete freedom, if you're still interested. :)

yep like granite said rooting will not help with reception. basically when you root the phone you are only affecting the software related os. it does not touch the radios in any way. so if you are all caught up with the OTA's then you have the latest radios, not much you can do other then call sprint. they might give you an airave to help with the signal at home.

If you had good 3G with your previous phone, take the new one to a Sprint corporate store and ask for an RF box test.

Lemons happen, always verify your hardware, have them replace it if necessary.

I would call and see if Tue towers in your area are being worked on.

Minneapolis has gotten terrible over the last few months as sprint is in the middle of rolling out its lte here.

Like rx said, they are doing full upgrades on all the towers. It will more than likely get worse before it gets better. Hopefully they're working in your area right now. You can call them to find out.
