Help S Pen "no zone" issue

Skraticus

Lurker
Hello everyone,

I've been searching for a solution because I know everybody hates a new thread being posted for something already asked and solved, but I've been unable to find anything. So either my searching skills suck or nobody else has this problem.

On my screen, about dead center height wise, and nearly all the way to the left, there seems to be a small area (about 1/2 inch in size) that the S Pen seems to be ... well, afraid of I guess. If I try and and draw a straight line through this area, it will curve right around it, every time. And I can't click on anything directly on this small area either. If I hover the S Pen over that area, you can see the dot way over to the side away from where the pen actually is. If I slowly move the pen away from that area, the dot slowly comes back to where it should be.

I thought it might be a bubble in the screen protector that I just couldn't see, but I can draw over that area with my finger no problem. It's just with the S Pen. I'm not sure what info you guys need from me, but just ask away and I'll get back quick as I can. It's not a great big area, but man it sure is annoying when you need to write in that little area.

I have a similar issue. If you turn the tablet into landscape mode, there are several areas about one quarter way down from the top where the S-pen does not write properly, and draws a few mm away from where you are writing (both in S Note and in Papyrus). Seems to be a defect.

Do any of you have a strong magnet in the said spot where the S Pen doesn't work properly? That can interfere and cause the issue you are describing.

Neither of you mention the use of a case. If you are using a case, remove the Note 8 from it and test again. If the S Pen works without the case, it's the case causing the issue (due to it having a strong magnet or something that can cause interference).
