Screen not timing out, alarm issues

I'm currently charging my note 2 and it's facing away from me, but the screen won't time out. It did before. and the charger is now hot to the touch.

I also have a problem with the alarm. It doesn't ring! the first time i set it, it worked fine, but now that I'm using blocking mode (and I removed the check on the box that says disable alarm and timer), it just doesn't work. does the volume have to be turned up? i know that my old phone's alarm sounded even if it was on silent profile.

Try a restart if you haven't done so. You'd be surprised how many times a simple restart fixes little quirks. Couple days ago I noticed my battery was draining fast, after looking into things I saw that my phone would not go into sleep mode. Before I started the task of deleting recently installed apps amd testing, I did a simple reset and that solved my problem. Thats always my first step.

Under "Developer Options", make sure that the "keep screen on while charging" setting is not checked.

For the alarm, verify that "Repeat Weekly" is checked, if you want a "daily" alarm:

thanks so much! as for the 'repeat weekly' option, I thought that meant that it would repeat only once a week on that day. Thanks for clearing that up :)

wait...the keep screen awake while charging box is not checked, and i just found out that i needed to untick the M (monday) box in the alarm. i didn't need to check the repeat weekly box :)

Well, I want an alarm for M-F at the same time each day. I initially marked each day, set the time and hit "save". However the next week, I noticed the alarm stopped working, and the selected days were no longer highlighted. I realized that an alarm is a "one time alert", unless you select "Repeat" as well, so that the schedule is persistent.

Yes, you have to check the Repeat Weekly in order for it to work AGAIN the next week. If you don't check it, it will work only for one time on each of the weekday you highlighted. And you can be on silence mode and the alarm will still ring.

The other thing is that when you hit More, you can scroll down to see a lot more options than just the volume. I didn't know that for a long time! I have that increase volume setting that slowly wakes me up with birds singing... it was awesome!

Also another hint, if you want to temporary disable an alarm, you could just hit the alarm clock icon on the right side of that alarm. Green = On, Grey = Off. It may be obvious to others, but it wasn't to me at first... I kept looking inside the individual alarm page to turn it off.
