Help screenshot problem Moto 4g LTE

Can anyone help me with this? The way I know to take a screenshot on these phones - power button and volume down switch together - is not working for me. I wonder if anyone else has this issue. I noticed some nice home screen shots on the forum, so clearly not everyone is! Does anyone know a workaround without rooting the phone, which I don't want to do.....
I really like the phone...

Hold both the power and volume down key for 2-3 seconds or until you hear the camera shutter click. You'll get the hang of it.

Thank you for your reply. As I said, that is the way I would normally do it on one of these phones, but it wasn't working for me. Oddly, I tried it without the case & it worked first time. The minute I put it back in the case it doesn't work! So, problem solved, but thank you for replying.

You are welcome. I thought you were using the case, which would make it difficult indeed. FYI, I'm using a Grip Shell and can take screenshots without taking the case off.

I've used No Root Screenshot It on my previous phone before rooting it. You'll need a PC and it's not free. It worked really well though.
