Help SD card wont work!!

I've had my HTC Desire Z phone for a year. A few months ago, it suddenly kept saying "SD card unexpectedly removed". I removed the SD card, put it back in, it worked fine. up until about a week ago, it stopped working completely, even after removing it and putting it back in. I bought another SD Card, but it doesn't work either. I'm getting the same message "Please insert an SD card". I can't access music, or take photos or videos. It can't be the SD card, it must be the phone. Does anyone know how to possibly fix this??
