Recently my service where I live has gotten sucky. REALLY sucky. Im on CM9 4/15. Has anyone else had this problem recently? My service has always been bad where i live(damn trees) but its been worse the last few months. My phone constantly goes to 1x and i have to toggle airplane mode to get 3g back. Just wondering if im not the only one...

You're definitely not the only one. I seem to be on 1x more than 3g anymore.
south central north Carolina.
It's never been great, but I have noticed a change for the worse the last several months.

Its so hard to get on the internet anymore because everytime i go to load something its goes to 1x. My phone went to 1x while i was typing this. I have to toggle airplane mode and hope I get 3g when it comes back up. Its ok, if everything goes right, I will be switching to Sprint and getting an S4 come November-December.

I don't know if that will be as much of a switch as you're hoping!
I hope so... good luck and let us know.

Lol. I know what youre saying. But ill get better service than i do now. Last time I told VM my signal sucked, they explained to me that i was "on the outside of the edge of a coverage area"... First thing I said was WTF?? on the outside of the EDGE of the coverage area...oookay.

But won't you still be getting the same exact service since Virgin uses Sprint? I don't see how you expect to see any improvement staying with the same network in the same exact location.

Virgin only uses a small # of Sprints towers. There is a sprint tower that is really close to me but VM doesnt use it. They use the one thats really far away. o_O

Is there any way to find the location of towers that Virgin uses? Using a mobile's coverage maps leave much to be desired as to how reliable those are. I've found a few tower maps but the towers listed for Sprint for instance aren't really near me at all, so I have to wonder what Virgin actually uses in my area.

I couldnt find anything on the internet, but....I know OpenSignal has a feature that gives you a distance from the tower being used. You could try using that and estimating which one its using.
