Sign a petition for the White House to stop carriers from blocking google wallet

"Cellular carriers have blocked mobile devices from accessing, instslling or using Google Wallet on NFC enabled devices. They have blocked this application built within selected Android devices so that they may release a similar application in which they plan to profit from. The carriers application is called ISIS which is in direct competition with Google Wallet. Carriers have given false information that Google's Wallet app is insecure and has security issues, yet Google has proved that Wallet is fully secure and can easily be functional on all NFC devices. Google's very own Nexus 4 which can be purchased outside carriers proves the app works securely on the Carriers Network."

Thanks for posting this. I agree with the sentiment of the petition, but I think the original petitioner missed a few things:

  1. Spell check. (instslling)
  2. Proper grammar. (...in which they plan to profit from.)
  3. Backup for any claims made. Where are the citations for these false carrier claims? How/when did Google prove that Google Wallet is fully secure (whatever that means)? How does the fact that Google Wallet works on the Nexus 4 prove that it works securely?

I'm certainly not an English scholar, and don't pretend to be, but I think better preparation is necessary when petitioning the White House.

I dont think its ever been available outside the US lol so its google im more angry with. Just realised their play music service is only in US! when will they stop neglecting the majority of users? :banghead:

If anything, this is a state issue. Besides, it can be easily resolved without outside intervention by rooting your NFC-enabled device.

Aparently the whitehouse are powerless to even legalise carrier-unlocking a phone (that youve payed for and own) in the US lol.. wtf

More than likely that's a licensing issue with the RIAA. Many online music services are United States only, e.g. Amazon and Pandora. Depending on what country you're in, there might be alternative cloud and streaming music services available, e.g. China has Baidu and top100.cn

You're assuming the US government does what is best for the people. That hasn't happened since Washington was in office.

You know, "politically correct" is an oxymoron?

1. I do not use Google Wallet outside paying for Play Store apps, (an unfortunate necessity.) There are plenty of better alternatives available: PayPal, bitcoin, etc.

2. I am still very, very, VERY upset at Google for forcing users to sign up for Google+ in order to post comments in YouTube or feedbacks in Play Store. That is a strong-armed anti-competitive practice to unfairly increase Google+ user base and give Google+ an unfair advantage over Facebook. (I use neither. I value my privacy so I refuse to use a social website, but Gogglevil keeps trying to shove G+ down my throat, by taking away basic services on YouTube and Play unless users bend to Googlevill.)

3. Because of the unfair business practices Google themselves have been using, I really do NOT want to see Goggle succeed in the online payment arena, thereby giving Google even more power and advantages that they will be able to use to force users to bend to Googlevil's will.

So, NO. I won't sign the petition. You should NOT as well.

In fact, I will sign a counter-petition if one is posted, just to help make sure Googlevil power is kept in check.

So the petition you will want to start should state something like:

For profit corporations that began as government-sanctioned monopolies, usually declared through backroom grifting, should be allowed to impede innovation by preventing third parties access to their users who are often bound to them by laws written over two decades ago. They have never served the public's interest anyway, so why should they try something new and lower their profit margins?

DO NO EVIL...
because Google is watching over you.

The petition is a stupid idea because I do NOT want to see Google dominate the online payment business. Google already has too much access to people's private information - especially after it unfairly enforces Google+ onto YouTube and Android users.

I take careful steps to insulate different parts of my personal and private information from different corporations. That way, no single corporation or company can gather the complete comprehensive information on my personal life. As Google already has its claws on so many of my personal information, I want to keep my other personal bits off Google's intrusion.

Google has made it very clear that it's their business to collect everyone's information, to build a complete comprehensive profile on everyone's life. That little piece of Google CEO dipshit Eric Schmidt even rubbed it in everyone's face: "oh, if you don't want to hand over ALL your private information to us, then you must have something to hide". Yet the hypocrite wanted to reserve privacy for himself: he blacklisted CNET for publishing information about his salary, neighborhood, political donations and ex-girlfriends. Why anyone would continue to tolerate Googlevil's big brother "we should know and own everything about you" hypocrisy is beyond me.

Google Wallet is just another tool for Google to consolidate its power for its unsavory agenda. I'd rather let other third-party companies rather than Google have my financial and banking information, because Google already has too much information about everyone. I'm not going to put myself into a situation in which I will have to hand over my financial and bank accounts to Google.

If Google Wallet becomes a dominant player in online payment service, then people like me will not have a choice: then we won't be able to avoid Google. We will have to deal with Google if we want to buy anything online. Google will get its claws on our financial information as well. That's extremely intrusive and dangerous, too much power and information, for one corporation to have. Imagine one almighty omnipotent, omniscient corporation. Knows everything about you: where you live and work, where you go and not, what you like and buy, who your friends and family are, what your political and religious affiliations are, AND your financial and banking information. That is What Google will become if we let them. (i.e., "Google" is so aptly named because soon they will be spying and watching over everyone with their Orwellian "Do No Evil" motto: "Do no evil... because we are googling/watching over you.")

The same thing cannot be said with other third-party companies. They do not have access to other important information about our lives. They may know my bank and credit information on files, but they do not know about anything else: not my personal life, not private life, not my sex life, not my political affiliation, not my religious belief. Google can know all those things about me from all my past searches, and that is too much already. That is why my financial information must be off-limit to Google. That is why I do not support Google in this fight, to protect my own long-term interests. If you know what's good for you, you'll sit this one out or take the side AGAINST Google.

This is a follow-up to my last post on why people should NOT support the petition:

The reason is I do not trust Google: Google is basically cross-referencing people's contacts and search history and who-know-what-else, and actually use those information for their own profit-motivated purpose. That is very intrusive to people's privacy.

An example: I had a gay roommate from early 2000s. He had never revealed to his family that he was gay. He uses Google. I use Google. So on his recent birthday, Google made recommendations for me to buy birthday gifts for him... and the recommendations include gay-interest books and films. So I thought, whoa, Google used his search history and contacts, and uses his private information to make recommendations for profit motives... which also violated his privacy. That's when I decided I need to insulate my private information from Google so Google cannot link my search history to my contacts.

As I said, Google already has too much information about us. I would rather keep Google out of the online payment service industry.

You can always move to WM, Blackberry, or Apple if you are this concerned about Google.

Yup google is a two-way partnership but it is completely optional. If someones gona collect and sell my anonymous data then im glad its google because they give a lot back

As is commonly said here in Silicon Valley: "If you're not paying for the product, you are the product."

I'll pay by check, cash or regular credit card. I have NFC disabled on the Nexus 4.

I think part of the problem is that Verizon wants to make a go of ISIS.

I think all the major carriers are backing ISIS now. Which is why they are blocking wallet. t-mobile may be the only one that does not. I don't remember

As is commonly said here in Silicon Valley: "If you're not paying for the product, you are the product."

I'm paying for the phone, the phone service, and the apps, (I'm sure Google takes a cut from every app sale in Play store.) So I'm a paying customer. And as a paying customer, I'm not going to allow Google to snoop on my life.

Google has other services that charge money, like the new music streaming service, so other people may be directly paying even more to Goggle. There is no way in hell I'll pay the Giggle music service to give Google the even more access to my personal information. If I want streaming music, I'll pay Amazon or another company, but NOT Google. Google already has to much information and power, and I already know from my personal experience (see my last post) that Google abuses that power for profit motives.

The point is: Google is getting into everything. It is reaching its long tentacles into every business. So why would you want or allow Google to put its claws into your bank accounts and financial information? I want Google to be kept out of certain businesses so they won't grow into something like OmniCorp from the RoboCop movies or the Weyland-Utani Corp from the Alien franchise, in which the one all-knowing, all-powerful corporation gets to control everything.

And make no mistake about it: GOGGLE IS EVIL. Today's news: the world supervillainaires are meeting in a supervillainaire convention in a secret hideout/lair near London to decide how to run and control the world. And guess who is invited... and evil enough to accept the invitation and is attending the evil conference? Not Apple. Not Microsoft. Guess who's more evil?

You guess it.

If you can't or are in denial or or are just too much of a Google fanboys to admit Google is evil, check out this news report:

Peasants, little people and 99-percenters like us should be hoping and praying that Google Wallet will never succeed, will never become a dominant player in the online payment business, instead of signing the stupid petition to help further Google's world domination agenda and undermine our own interests and privacy. What are you? Stupid? Ignorant? Brainwashed?

T-Mobile is an ISIS partner, but Sprint is not. They are the only one of the "Big 4" that do not Back ISIS and Sprint does allow Google Wallet on select devices.
