Root SMS Popup over lockscreen

I installed GSB 1.5 and it's great but I'm looking for a program to show my new SMS message over the lockscreen. I tried handcent and SMS popup but they didn't show it til I unlocked the phone. Am I missing something?

Try Go sms (free on the market). There is a function to turn on the screen and to unlock the phone when you receive a new message.

I tried GO SMS also, but had the same issue as handcent and Sms popup.

They don't seem to popup over the lockscreen. Is it related to CM7?

Ideally, I'd like:

When I receive a text:
1. phone vibrates and trackball blinks
2. screen stays off til I hit the power button
3. see the message
4. unlock and reply

I suppose that you could try WidgetLocker and put a messaging widget on the lock screen.

I've tried Handcent, SMS Popup, and Go SMS, and set it to enable popup over the lockscreen but none of them work! They only popup after I unlock.

Am I missing something? Does it have to do with the CM7 lockscreen or rotary unlock style?

Is there any solution other than using Widgetlocker?

EDIT: ok - I got it to work with SMS Popup but only when I set it to turn the screen on when a text comes. When I disable that, it requires me to unlock the screen first to see the popup. Is there any way to see the popup before unlocking but without the screen going on?
