[Sprint] Backup and play store not working after root

Pirendeus

Lurker
I'm new to rooting, but I tried it last night and it seemed to work. I used Nexus Root Toolkit and Android Toolkit to backup my SMS, call logs, contacts, virtual SD card, and all apps. I unlocked bootloader, rooted, and installed TWRP, cyanogenmod, and kitkat 4.4.4.
I then tried to restore my backup; sms, logs, and contacts restored perfectly, however the apps don't fully restore. The apps appeared to backup properly (the file is 830 mb), but when I restored I noticed that many are missing (some of the missing apps names were definitely displayed as the phone tried to restore, some I didn't see during restore.) At the end, the phone displays the message "restore ended" and NRT showed "process finished," even though some apps are clearly not back.
Additionally, the google play store is gone. I downloaded and flashed its apk file, and the play store showed up on my device, but it immediately crashes when I try to load it. I looked for simple solutions (e.g. clearing cache/data, resetting app preferences, flashing again/flashing a different apk, rebooting), but nothing seems to work. Am I missing something?

EDIT: Apparently I'm using a snapshot build of Cyanogen 11 from 7-8-14; would switching to a stable 10.2.1 build from 2-1-14 potentially resolve these problems?

I really appreciate any suggestions; I'm very new to this and its quite possible I made a simple mistake.
