[Sprint] Root goes away after rebooting!?

I just rooted my phone today, and then rebooted it just to see my new boot animation. When the phone powers up, I went to root checker and it says my phone wasn't rooted! So I went into recovery mode again and installed the superuser zip file, and I was rooted again. I rebooted to see if it would happen again and it did! How come every time I reboot my phone it becomes not rooted!?
I have a sprint galaxy nexus
 
What device do you have? I know that some have some trickier security than others, and that could be interfering with Superuser loading at boot.
 
I've read other posts where Root Checker was giving false rooted / not rooted results. If you have SU installed and running you are rooted. Rebooting a phone does not unroot it.
 
I have a samsung galaxy nexus (sprint)
Superuser is there, but it doesn't work. it says "There is no SU binary installed..." So in order to fix this I have to go back into recovery mode, then click on the super user file, and im rooted again. But every time I re boot it goes away and I am not rooted anymore.
 
What method did you use to root the device? Did you fastboot flash a custom recovery and then load up superuser.zip that way? Or did you use a toolkit?

Did you also make sure to get the absolute-latest version of superuser? Root had to make some changes with the release of KitKat. http://download.clockworkmod.com/superuser/superuser.zip should be the latest.

I will try to explain how I rooted my phone. I downloaded a file, and typed some commands in my terminal (mac) while I was in fastboot mode, to unlock my bootloader. Then I had to type some more commands.I tried to flash clock work mod recovery, but it kept giving me the dead android symbol when I went into recovery mode, so I had to flash the recovery of TWRP. Then I downloaded the superuser file went into recovery mode and installed the superuser. Then I rebooted and it told be I was rooted, and I was happy! But then the next morning I powered on my phone and I used root checker to check to make sure everything was ok, and it said it wasn't rooted anymore. I went into recovery mode again and re installed the SU file, and I was rooted again, but when I turned my phone on and off again, it was unrooted, so I am forced to go into recovery mode again and install the super user file again so I can be rooted again. Don't think that file you gave me the link to will make a difference because I'm running jellybean 4.3 and the superuser file I used was for 4.3. This whole thing is giving me alot of stress and I'm kind of wishing I never bothered in the first place.

God, I wish I never would've rooted in the first place, its caused me nothing but problems since the moment I started, I erased all my data because I thought it would be worth it, and now I'm just 10 steps behind where I was before I rooted.. :(
Is there anything else I can do?
If not, Is there some easy way where I can un root, lock the bootloader, go back to stock everything? Or is that going to be a pain in the butt and cause me 50 problems as well?
 
back to no root.. and i didn't even reboot this time, I have no idea what the problems is.
edit: My phone rebooted itself on its own and im back to root... very very weird
 
Quite weird indeed. And you're right about the KK stuff - I completely forgot that the Galaxy Nexus was still on 4.3. My bad! That said, though, I'd still recommend making sure that your version of SU is the latest - I remember that there had to be some changes to get root working reliably with 4.3 as well, so if your binary is significantly older there could be issues.

Another option may be to try Chainfire's SuperSU instead of Koush's superuser. I believe it takes a slightly different approach to persistence. Assuming you have root already (for the moment, at least) the SuperSU app should be able to flash its binary without any tedious mucking about in recovery. :thumbup:

I have the same issue, only mine started over time. Its funny how I rooted my GNEX on a Mac as well. Anyhow, my problem began after flashing many roms and I think it's because of one of the many KitKat ROMs I flashed. I noticed one of the KK ROMs I flashed would give me issues with deleting system files. So I changed to a 4.3 based custom ROM. Same issue and I noticed that no root apps were requesting permissions, especially when I checked in the root browser option in ES File Explorer. I changed to ROMs I have been on before and even there the issue continued. I noticed that my storage in folders is stuck as if it where "emulated." Also known as the "0" folder. No matter how much I delete it its still there. I flashed the latest SuperSU zip thru TWRP even knowing that the Slimbean ROM I was on included its own integrated supersuser. It worked but SOMETIMES on reboot root was lost. Its not EVERY reboot for me, but it does happen and Im forced to reflash the superSU. Along with these issues I noticed at the same time my battery will only reach 98% and at times wont charge (not my charger nor the charge port, it started from night to day). I honestly believe it's some type of issue in the internal storage.
