Still on 1.5

Anyone else still running their Galaxy i7500 on the "latest" official 1.5 software? I am not at all happy that Samsung abandoned my shiny new toy just after I bought it but I have never felt confident enough in any of the alternative ROMs to try one.

I think, in part, I still have battle scars from my days as a Zaurus owner. Sharp stopped providing updates for this but the community Openzaurus alternatives never supplied a really usable system. Lord knows I spent a lot of my life installing OZ releases and trying to get the it to work...

My Android experience was also blighted by foolishly signing up for a 24 month contract with O2. Their 3G network is dire where I live. Even though I still have 6 months left on the contract I have chucked their SIM away and am using a Vodafone PAYG SIM instead. In truth this has improved my Android experience more than any software upgrade would...

Give a Galaxo a try.
It's based on Android 1.6 (official JC6 firmware), it's better then 1.6 firmware from Sam*censored and of course from 1.5 version of Android.

It sucks to be stuck on Android 1.5 but apart from niggling issues with getting the dial-pad to respond during calls everything works okay.

I read this thread Galaxo v1.6.3.4 and was rather put off, I am afraid. Too many problems (i.e. with the camera and GPS) from what I can gather. I would be more inclined to try a stock Android 1.6 installation but I get the impression Drakaz has introduced a lot of tweaks and non-standard customisations.

Lol, what problems with camera and GPS, both work flawless on my device. I`m running Galaxo since 7 months ago with a few days of GAOSP in between. Why are you so afraid? Trust me, you wont regret. And you cant brick your phone, whatever you do wrong if you dont respect the guide well, it can be repaired.

Galaxo = a whole new world
Flashing a new ROM = priceless experience

So give it a go, you will like it. ;)
