Help Stock email app?

Wooby

Member
For whatever reason I can't get the stock e-mail app to sync my G-mail account, unless I use the manual sync. It shows every 15 minutes (not thrilled with that either) but still won't do it. I really like the stock e-mail app with the gesture swipe too and just the general look of it. How can the g-mail app continuously sync and not this one? Should I delete the gmail app altogether?

Data push is turned on for: my email account

Fetch Schedule is every 15 minutes but it shows for "no accounts" can't find an option that connects my account.

Make sure you have syncing enabled for that email. Hit your menu button/settings/accounts & sync. Make sure the wheel is green next to this email your taking about.

What you describe JayC is not the solution. You have to login with your Gmail account and also login to the motorola email app individually on the RAZR.

If you set your Gmail to sync then you get notifications from the Gmail app and if you turn off those notifications in Gmail but leave it set up to sync, the stock app STILL doesn't notify you of new emails. I am always having to refresh as well.

I do use Juice Defender and thought this might be causing the issue but even with JD disabled it still does not work.

I have done a restore as well, just to make sure everything is working properly and this issue still persists.

Any other thoughts?

I've seen this on the DX...put the Motorola data sync toggle widget on your screen and see if it is turned off.

I don't have a widget specifically called this. I did add the power bar widget and the sync button was lit up so data sync was enabled. Still having to manually refresh to get emails.

Found a solution from Motorola's Razr forum.

Delete your gmail account.

Setup again, but this time don't select Gmail in account setup. Use the general mail one.

Put in login / password and auto setup is fine.

All my g-mail now syncs immediately on the stock mail app.

It won't let me delete my gmail account saying "this account is required by some applications. you can only remove it by resetting the phone to factory defaults" !! Do I really have to go there??

I did the same thing and its working now.

What he means is delete the Gmail account you registered under email accounts. Then re-add the email account without choosing Gmail as the type of email account. Set your Gmail up as Other.

Personally, I used the Gmail IMAP settings but I guess you could use POP3 if you wanted to.

Being new to the Droid phone I need help on how to fix this issue please.

I have a Moto Droid Razr

MY issue is that I have the Gmail app installed. For what ever reason it does not allow me to create outgoing email. When I use the email app that comes on the phone that means that I get the same emails twice, once in the standard email app and the Gmail app.

How can I delete the Gmail app?

Am I doing something wrong?

thanks in advance.
