strange indicator icon ?!

(I also posted on this thread yesterday:
http://androidforums.com/android-lounge/444303-what-undocumented-indicator.html#post3453404
but something tells me that it is a gt540 related indicator...)

so to sum up here,

My phone : LG GT540 , Official LG released Android 2.1

I have this indicator (screenshot) that i don't know what means and how (if possible) to remove it .. I couldn't find something related on the user-manual

some guesses :
-calendar related - but i don't use the calendar at all (although i have a widget on a screen)
-carrier/band-frequescy?
-LG IME indicator with nothing to 'indicate' if that is (but so every gt540 should have it i suppose)

hope someone with the same indicator will reply :)
thanks

looks like part of your Google Search. you know how they aded graphic changes to their site constantly, could be an icon added to their widget.. is the google search a widget on your home screen? if so, remove the widget and see if the red icon goes away.

i removed the google search and the icon is still there...

{hmm.. not sure if i was clear here ... the 'red' thing is the pointer ,made with GIMP, (like an arrow) to the indicator (it's a red hand that points to the indicator on the 'taskbar') ...maybe that was confusing, sorry . the indicator i wonder about is the square with the number "1" in it}

but thanks

oh i see what you are referring to now. Yep, at first it looked like that red hand was part of the google search since it was smack in the middle of the google widget. But instead, its an overlay and it stays there even if you remove the google widget.[Hide]

Pointing to the 1, i saw that earlier too. What happens when you click the 1? Has that number ever changed to something else? How long as the 1 been appearing in your notification bar? Did it appear same time as the red hand and do you recall any apps installed around that time?

ok i found what it is

it means that the "Line 1" of the sim is chosen.

My SIM has 2 lines although only one is working (i think) ,
the "double lines" is a feature on old sim cards (mine is about 8 years old maybe more)

under the menu "settings>call settings>additional settings>Select line" i can select between the Line 1 or Line 2 ..

it looks like i can't hide the indicator, but at least i know what it is

thanks for the replies!
