Root stuck at SuperOneClick

Curious Mew

Newbie
Hi guys, I have a prob.

I was following the directions to the SuperOneClick process here, here and here (I've done lots of research elsewhere too), and got stuck at process #7 with the 'Auto' exploit. The window said it was "Not Responding", and as such I eventually closed it because it did not appear to be doing anything.

After closing SOC the first time, I made a 2nd 'Auto' exploit and only got to step #2 before the window said it was "Not Responding". I made a 3rd attempt and tried a different exploit 'psneuter', and also got stuck at step #2 with yet another "Not Responding" window.

At the moment I'm too scared to move forward, I almost want to reinstall stock but am not sure if that is an option anymore. My launcher (GO Launcher) looks a tad different in appearance (default look?), and opening the shortcut to my file explorer (ES File Explorer) wouldn't respond and told me to reboot Go Launcher first. My phone appears to still be in working order, but it feels funny and I'm kinda feeling disappointed that my phone might be half broken. If anyone can help I'd be very grateful.

I'm using SuperOneClick 2.3.3, Windows 7 Microsoft .NET 4 Extended (and Microsoft .NET 4 Client Profile), and have both Samsung Galaxy S drivers found at this link (the Kies one and the other one).
