Root Stuck in recovery limbo

Newbie
I am truly having the month from hell for all things computer. I am about to chuch every electronic device I have out the window T_T
Anyway,
I was hoping someone could spare a few moments to help me out with a problem Ive run into with my Galaxy Note 8.0
I was very anxious to get kitkat, so I decided to root and load CM11 kitkat.
I had already Rooted using Odin, and everything was working perfect. But I got greedy and wanted to flash a rom so I could have KitKat.
I followed the following guide:
Update Galaxy Note 8.0 N5110 To Android 4.4.2 KitKat via CM11 Nightly–How To | True Android | #1 Custom Android Resource

But it wouldn't take:
"-- Installing: /external_sd/cm-11-20140222-NIGHTLY-n5110.zip
Finding update package. . .
Opening update package. . .
Installing update. . .
set_metadata_recrusive: some change failed
E:Error in /external_sd/cm-11-20140222-NIGHTLY-n5110.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted."

I thought it was very odd to Flash a rom using a Nightly as Im under the impression those are for CM updates, but ANY search I did for flashin a fresh CM11 for Galaxy Note 8.0 n5110 all pointed to the guide.

I tried to restore, but once it restores and reboots, an endless flood of popups come up indicating that one app after another has stopped working. Obviously I didn't backup right.

And just in case it makes a difference, I tried to install the Nightly from external sd card (as indicated in the quoted process log).

I feel very very frustrated and can't figure what Im doing wrong to cause these issues, but I would deeeeeeeply appreciate some help. I know im all over the place on this forum and I apologize deeply, but like I said, Im having the month from hell so please be patient with me.

Have you tried redownloading the latest nightly? (It's pretty unusual, but it is possible to get a bad download.)

At the time, that was the most recent. It was the Nightly released on the 22nd of this month. But I will try again. Also, a user named Yatezy suggested I make sure I have an up to date recovery. He's under the impression that the error "(Status 7)" that comes up in the process log when trying to flash the nightly refers to the idea that recovery might be out of date. Currently it looks like I have:
CivZ Touch rev1.1 CWM v6.0.4.4

Is this up to date? If not, any suggestions on an up to date recovery?

Also, BTW... based on what you were saying in your PM, and stuff Yatezy was saying in his/hers I definitely just want to go back to stock rom. Rooted, but stock. How can I do this?
