Buzzfeed's Mat Honan published a very interesting story about Google CEO Sundar Pichai. Apparently, Pichai unveiled Google Cardboard on stage at Google IO 2014 without ever seeing the final design or final software.
Clay Bavor, the VP for virtual reality, says they completed the project in the eight and a half weeks prior to IO. It was a mad scramble to complete the project in time. Pichai put his complete trust in the team and showed the device to the world without testing it for himself. The rest is history.
