Text messaging freezing up phone

Have been rooted for about 2 weeks now and have the asop ROM running, everyhting has been great so far but for the second time now i have sent a text message but it never sends. After it does this i try to send again but it just gets stuck saying sending....... Iturn the phone off let it sit then turn back on and the phone freezes and lock screen. I ahve to pull the battery boot to recovery and flash the backup nandroid. Ive tried just rebooting but it wont get pass the lock screen, i have to go to the nandroid backup. This has happened twice now and exactly the same way each time. Any idea what is doing this and what i can do to fix? Thanks guys and gals.

also left out something important. Both times it has done this it has been when trying to send a text that would have been two text, in other words it was a long text that wouldnt fit into just one.

You can't send long text when using aosp rom. I looked into it, it's a bug. However, I love the rom too much to give it up for that. My solutions are to download handscent app. Its a messaging app, you still can't send long text, but you can at least keeps a count of your characters, to make sure it's under 160. Another "fix" is using google voice. I use it since I already have a number. You can send long text with them. I've never had my phone freeze though.

So I finally figured out how to "fix" the text messaging problem when sending long texts. I'm currently using a CM7 nightly build. Like I said in the quote above, you'll need a third party text messaging app. I use handcent. Then go to setting>send message settings>Split 160. Then choose the option you want.
