Root The new Reef phone is nearly identical to the Triumph

The reef is basically a waterproof version of the Triumph with a bit more built in storage that comes preloaded with jelly bean. Here's a comparison.
Perhaps this phone will help with the Truimph's jelly bean port.

It's the same processor. It will be intresting to see if the camera chip is the same, or some of the other componants.

And it has more RAM too.

We may have to wait for the source code to be released. I wonder if they moved up to a 3.0x kernel or kept the 2.6X kernels.

Has anyone actually used one of these phones? I have a Triumph, but am getting frustrated with it in many aspects (Instagram crashes the phone, Paranoid Android is just too buggy to be a daily driver). Plus, there's a scratch on the screen in the upper left corner (where the back button usually is in apps) that isn't bad, but just gets on my nerves.

Anyway, I've been looking at new phones, and have been really disappointed so far with what's available in the $150-ish range. Phones that have better specs than the Triumph seem to run $199-$299 (and the $199 phones aren't much of an upgrade). Phones that are $150 or less seem to be a big downgrade: slower processor, lesser camera, Gingerbread, etc.

If this phone is "as good" as the Triumph, but comes with Jellybean, I might pick one up this week just for that. If it connects to Wi-Fi faster and\or has a better GPS I'll certainly pick one up, maybe tomorrow.

Any thoughts?

You could get the GSG2. In my opionion it's twiche the phone the MT is and you could get one for about $125-150 range. That's what I'm doing, but just moving the wifey to Ting with me.

I have been using the Victory and have been pretty dam happy. With that said I just got a new Triumph today to replace the one I sold to my brother many moons ago. Sucky as it may be the thing keeps pulling me back.

Well figured I would jump back in and just compile CM7 and then maybe another using the source a little bird gave me for the proprietary Qcom Libra Wifi and some changes to eri.xml but it looks like CM7 gots broke. LOL.!!!!

Well its not broke, its 13.04 so I thinks I would need to either downgrade or run 10.04 in VirtualBox.
