Help this is HOW i FINALLY UPGRADED TO FROYO... but i have a QUESTION

HI EVERYBODY,
last Week i purchased OnLine a Samsung i9000 Galaxy S, the phone had been UnLocked by the store to recive 3G also in 850Mhz so the Phone came in his original Box, but it was opened, but everything was sealed as if it was new and inside the box there where 2 Mini CD's that included KIES 1.5.3.

I immediately installed those CD's and i tried to Upgrade my Phone to Android 2.2, i had to plug the USB port and unplug it few times before it actually took the driver, but finally when the PC recognized my Phone i went ahead and clicked on the Upgrade button, BUT it was telling me that this phone could not be Upgraded.

I asked around OnLine, some people told me that i needed to install an older version of KIES and change a couple of values in the Registry, so after a few searches OnLine i found KIES 1.5.1, i downloaded it, i went in the RegEdit and changed the values as i was told, connected the Phone and waited... the message that appeared stated that there were no UpDates for my Phone.

FINALLY IT WORKED... (with KIES 2.0)

Some people told me that in some areas of the US the Upgrade to Froyo is not available, but once i downloaded KIES 2.0 and i plugged the Phone, it immediately told me that there was a Firmware Upgrade available for my Phone... the battery was at about 85% and i proceeded with the Upgrade.

It took several minutes, and one time there was nothing on the screen which almost made me faint that i messed up everything, then it restarted working, then he kinda stopped for a while at about 80% for good 10 minutes... then... the upgrade was done.

GOOD NEWS
all the Applications are still there, and i didn't lose any setting!

QUESTION
as i stated at the beginning, i purchased this Phone in an UnLocked version that allows it to work in 3G in the 850Mhz Network... basically AT&T since i have a contract with them, BUT since i do not live in an area with 3G coverage, i was wondering if there is a way of knowing if my Phone can work in 3G with the 850Mhz without having to drive around searching for an area that is 3G covered by AT&T

Thank's for any help & info
REGARDS

It's not some area in the US. It's which variant of the Galaxy S do you have. Vibrant and Fasciante has yet to receive the update, and since they lack a physical home button, they cannot use the same firmware as the Captivate or the Galaxy S.
