Root Tried to return rooted phone...

I rooted my wife's phone so we could use wireless tether and remove some bloatware. It was acting up before the root as well as after the root. She decided she was going to take the phone into MetroPCS and do a warranty exchange. She didn't tell me until after the fact so I couldn't stop her. Obviously they didn't let her because it was rooted and there was a wireless tether app installed. I have now unrooted the phone and restored to factory. Can we try to take it in now? Do they keep records of rooted phones? Could we "lose" or "accidentally break" the phone and just pay the $50.00 for a new one?

Hopefully a new person is in the store. I can't really say but when i took my phone, they didnt type anything in a record or anything as far as i can remember. Try going to a different location.

metro's employees arent very intelligent. you should just be able to walk in and ask for a new one. if they give you any crap just threaten to file a complaint with the store. you will always win with that. ive solved many a problem with that because they are too lazy to do there job.

Yeah i don't think they have way to check if the phone was previously rooted or not so you should be able to take it up to the store unless it's the same person you talked to last time

Just a quick heads up to remind folks that any advice given which advises you to work the system/intentionally brick your device etc, isn't really permitted here on AF.

If you've unrooted, that should be sufficient for them to accept and offer a replacement.
