Sorry guys I'm lazy so I'm copying this from s3 forum lol but same applies.
It's a masterpiece. I even donated which is rare for a. Sewer rat like me

I'm a tester and it should be official very soon but if you know me and trust my opinion, flash this when it drops officially!
It's probably the most perfect rom I've had on any device.
Ask any questions about it you want instead of me having to list features but it's 4.4.3 and has the new theme engine.

I also have it in my Nexus 7 but with Franco Kernel.

Running in ART on both devices and no FCs yet.

I'd always thought it was a problem with the chip manufacturer. A phone with same chip didn't get it either.
I've ran art on my 2012 for months and It flies for me. Zero lag and no crashes.
How long is grouper gona get official support anyway?
Id unlock and root it (so easy)
Put Validus 5.2 (im testing 5.3 now and it's the best rom ever, flash Franco Kernel, turn on ART, wait 20mins (lol) for it to boot and experience a new device, I 2014 tablet with 720p display :thumbup:

Validus 5.2 official for GROUPER wifi only 2012 Nexus 7. Anyone flashes at own risk, make a nandroid first. CLEAN FLASH (data wipe in recovery) is essential with this version. Lots of new code ✌:thumbup::beer:

Reboot after first boot. Always do that with a new rom.

Just out of interest does this ROM (with Franco kernel of course) support OTG natively on the N7?

I've kept mine stock (but rooted) but I suspect 4.4.4 is the end of the line for N7 OTAs and I'm inclined to reflash for three main reasons:

1. ART - I use it on my N4 and using the N7 with Dalvik now irritates me
2. Better screen calibration - Franco kernel should allow this with any ROM
3. Proper OTG support

First two are already covered by a your favourite option, but what about number three?

Is it kernel or rom though that affects OTG compatibility?
I've asked head dev. BTW what do you mean by "natively" mate?
 
A grouper tester and buddy just tried it and it works fine mate.
I've got her testing it in recovery now :thumbup:
 
Thanks for all the effort :-)

By "natively" I just meant it could detect and use OTG devices without the need of some special app that does the dirty stuff itself, eg Nexus Media Importer.

There's more to it than meets the eye because both the kernel and the OS build need support for OTG to work properly otherwise I would have kept the stock 4.4.4 build and just swapped to the Franco kernel, but I'm told elsewhere that it wouldn't work the way I wanted it to - and in any case I would like ART as well.
 
Check out 5.2 then and if you like it you'll love 6.0
ART and Franco Kernel add like 1000 to your quadrant score (for what it's worth) :thumbup:

i flashed it and was REALLY digging it. very smooth. but.....

two apps that i rely on....one is my local newspaper that probably has about 3 downloads from google play won't install. and youtube won't install. i've done all the resets and clearing caches, and can't get them.

no trouble for you with youtube?
 
Yeah try that, a gapps with YT included . as a tester/jester I'd rather find a cause/fix though lol.
I'd go with PA gapps.

PS if it falls I'll d/l YT and the newspaper app n send u the apks to see if that works. Have you activated ART in developer options yet?

pa gapps did the trick! thanks for the suggestion. boy this rom is slick. don't know why it should be, but it is faster with less stutter that the factory image....which blows, imo.

do wish they'd get rid of the clowns. i hate clowns.)

Got art going..love it. Did not know you could flash a boot animation.

edit: nice! got the original jelly bean animation going. nice and simple....and no evil clowns.:)
