Root [Verizon] Synergy Jelly Bean

Well I've not found anyone talking much about the Synergy Jelly Bean version. I've decided to try mind hand at sharing from my very limited experience and knowledge.

Unless I don't understand what I'm seeing when I read the descriptions of other roms, but I believe the developers of Synergy have provided more customization then others.

My experience is that it has not crashed, it hasn't randomly rebooted once. Google Now and the other Jelly Bean apps have worked for me without fail. My phone is fast. I cannot really speak to stock battery life, because I'm using Guerilla Gadgets 4500 mah battery and the battery life is freaking amazing.

So in my limited understanding I'd have to call Synergy Rom's Jelly Bean version stable. I'm confident do to my lack of technical understanding I've not even come close to using its full potential. However, I cannot imagined being more pleased another.

I got my SGS3 on a Friday, rooted it the next day and started with Synergy. Loved it. Ran it for a week.. after setup and configuration process, was gettting decent battery life. I enabled lots of stuff so Battery is life is probably better than what I experienced. (BTW, am currently getting 20hrs of moderate use out of rooted stock) Very stable, never an exit or hang. Very smooth.. The end of that same week, i then accidentally flash'd a ROM for a different device and hard bricked it. Dam. Rookie mistake.

On the S3 replacement, i rooted and am still running stock, waiting for JB.. i have redownloaded the Synergy ROM and will most likely reflash it and continue to use it.

Great ROM..

Now that Synergy is more along the lines of AOSP with the Samsung bells and whistles, it's my daily driver. Much nicer than the new LiquidSmooth. My only issue is I can't chamge my lockscreen wallpaper.

how is Synergy more along the lines of AOSP??...

as for changing the lockscreen wallpaper...which gallery are you using to try it??...if you use the normal gallery(flower icon) it should work fine...

Little things like moving the page counter which took up a whole row to the bottom. Just little bits here and there while keeping samsung flare. No matter which gallery I use I cannot change my lockscreen wallpaper to my own picture.

something wrong then...it works 100% fine on my device

I'm not sure what the &^%$* I've done, but a while after loading the latest version of Synergy Rom my phone randomly goes black and it will not allow me to reboot it until after I take the battery out and place it back in.

Before that started Google Now kept getting hung too. If I should go back to stock and then upgrade to officially released Jelly Bean. This is becoming a pain!

I've also started getting the message that "Unfortunately, Verizon login has stopped."

Well I finally decided to roll back to the previous update and so far I'm having none of the issues. So I'm now back on r118.

When did this latest version get released? I flashed synergy back in October and have tried a couple other ROMs but always come back to synergy... Now my Google now won't update the the latest version... Says its not supported on my device.

pretty recently...r125 is the latest

I'm gotten to the point that I'm very disappointed with the fact that the latest version of this ROM works like s%*t for some reason on my phone and I've had to go back to the previous version. Plus Google Now only works half the time and now ROM Manager says my Verizon GS3 is not supported. I'm tempted to use the insurance on my phone to replace it and go back to stock and update it to the officially released version of Jelly Bean and forget it.

did you do a clean install of the ROM or a dirty flash?...ive never had any significant issues with any version of Synergy

Yes I wiped all the caches including the Dalvik cache. I even went back to the previous version and then reloaded after deleting all the caches again.

deleting just the caches is still a dirty flash...you've got to do a data wipe/factory reset...especially when changing bases...

Pardon... I forgot to say that i did the data wipe/factory reset also.

Nevertheless I decided to try it all over again, rebooted into recovery deleted all the cash and did the data wipe/factory reset. The loaded the latest Synergy r125 again. However, now when I'm in the middle of using Titanium Back up to restore all my apps and data I notice the phone gets very hot and randomly shuts down on its own right in the middle of restoring the apps. :banghead:

the restore process is very cpu intensive...your phone is also syncing all of your data from servers and such since you did a data wipe...plus the included ziggy kernel defaults to 1900mhz on first boot...so youre running your cpu balls out at 50% higher clock speed...you could literally be overheating the phone...
