Very slow boot. Wont mount SD card

I am running Cyanogenmod 7 on a Nook Color. CM7 is on the SD card, not the device. In other words if I take the SD card out I boot to the proprietory Nook software, if I put the SD card in I boot to CM7.
Everything was working fine for about a year. Lately, it takes about 5 minutes to boot. In "storage settings" when I try to mount the SD card the Nook will hang for approx 5 minutes and then I get a not responding error. However, /mnt/emmc IS mounted and CM7 DOES boot up. Eventually.
The biggest headache is that I use a teleprompter on this device for lyrics. The teleprompter works, but I can no longer find the lyric text files. Probably on the part of the SD card that I cannot mount.
When I put the SD card into my PC, all I can see is the emmc portion.

Any idears?
