Root [Virgin Mobile] [KERNEL] VaeVictus Kernel - Overclocked to 1.8Ghz [Updated 8-8-13]

Use the linaro toolchain like Jerry

With redspot at 1.5 I got ui lag in the keyboard while holding down backspace, and scrolling in the stock browser.

With Jerry's 1.5 kernel, with powersavermode on (1.5 throttled to 1.2 by powersaver) that same lag was gone.

So, 1.2 is enough power for a lag free environment IF the kernel is built right, while an inferior 1.5 kernel isnt enough.

I have copies of 4.6.2 linaro Jerry used and an updated 4.7.3 that has more code optimizations. Right now all my builds are done with the standard gcc4.4.3
When and if I get t done, it'll be linaro for sure. I just wit have as many CPU govs as VaeVictus here because most of his depend on hotplug to disable the second core at some point.
I have my toolchains I use at
https://github.com/newkid313/toolchains/

Then a static 1.35 should be perfectly adequate and allow the undervolting that would give ridiculous battery life.

I'd flash it.

And I think on a non OEM ROM, just AOSP, would be perfect to run with as there isn't anything to hog resources. Let it be known that it was said here I would do the virtually impossible. It'll take me weeks :P

questions, what can i do to slow it a bit?
like on frills, what should i be picking?, also the victorious boot logo? is in boot.img, i dont want a boot logo if i can please

U can slow it by choosing 1.62 ghz?
As for boot logo is the initlogo.rle in the boot.img ramdisk
I pretty sure a boot.img with the original samsung logo can be made for u eventually

No problem, my main concern was that no one experienced SOD (sleep of death) where u lock your screen and it wont respond to the power key due to lag and the only way out is to reboot and change gov. Powersave has a minimum now so even if u set at 384 mhz (its perm set to min at 480 mhz) it wont go that low preventing SOD

Update7-28-13 : Merged rbheromax's frequency fixes for several governors, should help with stability issues some have experienced.

VaeVictus-Freq-Fixed.zip

Thanks again rbheromax!

Just flashed this kernel and my upload on WiFi went back to normal (I pay for 30 Mb down and 3 Mb up). With the previous kernel build I was getting just over a Mb up. Not sure why, just thought I would mention it :D

Thats good...a few questuons:
1.) Does sitting on 1.62 reboot at all?
2.) 1.67 discolor or any glitches?
3.) 1.782 heat up a little bit more than usual?
I suspect this may be happening because of the given voltages

If you can, would you mind adding voltage control in the kernel? And thanks for the awesome kernel :D

I plan to, and adding gpu control. I notice the uV was waaaay too much. I fixed on github but itll be a while before the release and im expecting antutu scores of about 14-15000 :D

I have been playing with the CPU governor settings and it seems like the changes never take. I have tried to set the governor max at 1.458 and a min of 486 but nothing works. I still get 1.836 and 384 usage. I am using No Frills but I also have ROM Tool Box Pro. Could one be affecting the other?

*Edit-I have the box checked for "Prevent Changes From Other App" in the settings for No Frills.

Hmmm... 1.67 GHz isnt showing...that's supposed to be there. It shows to be spending most of yhr time on 384 MHz. Is it lagging?

No, I have been trying Badass governor settings and noob scheduler. The only game I really play is Candy Crush and that plays just fine. Phone works great, but it seems like I can't adjust CPU settings.

Using these settings and the CPU running at 1.836 I get a score of 12515 (using AnTuTu) which is about 1000 points higher than anything I have ever had with this phone.

OK, I think I may have figured out why I couldn't edit the Max and Min. I had No Frills linked using Link2SD. I removed the link and then tried to change the settings and that worked. To test it I ran another benchmark test and got an 11537 and the CPU Maxed at 1.458.
