Wow I never would have thought it either.... That's great. We will probably receive it in a year though when android 5.75 or something crazy is out on the new phones

I figure we will get it as Moto goes sequentially backwards through their current phone models. Thus, the Moto X will be first (and is going out to them now) then Droid Ultra and Droid Maxx, then Razr Maxx and Razr Maxx HD, then Razr M. This better happen in the next 60 days or so.

I hope Kit Kat includes some optimizations, because mine is definitely beginning to show its age in sluggishness =/ (yes, I have Factory Reset and wiped the cache after that update a couple weeks ago)

Why is it taking so long? By the time it comes I'll be up for a new phone.

This is one area where iPhone will always beat android unfortunately.

no news of our phones on the official Moto blog so we get to wait, no Verizon issue here as some of their other announced phones are already on 4.4.

I updated to cm11 kit kat and the phone runs really nice. Super smooth. Also it enabled 5ghz WiFi. I don't recall that working in jb.

Lars,
Any issues/glitches to note? I'm considering going cm11 but I a need DD quality ROM. Anything to note?
How's the camera?

Some people have reported problems with SMS/MMS. Mine works fine on the 3/4 build. I see no issues with the camera. I think call volume is a bit low. That has always been my complaint with Moto phones. They keep it low so it sounds "clear" but you can't hear a damn thing in noiser places. HTC allows lots of volume but the speaker will crackle. On the stock Moto rom you can enable HAC which happens to boost volume along with enabling the coil (I'm not deaf BTW) It is my DD. That is how good it is. Corp exchange mail on AOSP is better than Blur. I never thought I'd say that. The interface works smoother like Gmail with swiping. Hi res contact photos sync with a google personal account much better. That was promised in JB but only now works well now. Still broken in Gapps I hear.

I'd say wait a bit and I'll try to post back when at least the MMS has been solved for others. You need an unlocked BL to load that ROM.

What I can say is that Kit Kat is REALLY smooth and fast. I like the integrated printing too like iOS. CM has privacy guard and App Ops which allows restricting app permisssions. One day that will be AOSP proper like the iPhone has. iPhone actually has better privacy features than android now. Quite a turn.
