whats the best free wifi calling app

Facebook will be offering free calls via their new app to be released soon.

Don't have any other suggestions as I've always had cellular service and FaceTime or Skype.

I've been using Groove IP for several years. You need a Google voice account and have to purchase the Groove IP app. There is some speculation it may stop working at some point when/if google turns off access.

How do you use Google voice with it? Play store description says get your own textme number.

Sorry I took so long to get back with you,
You setup the TextMe app and you tie it to Google Voice.
When setting up TextMe app,It will wall you through connect it to Google Voice.

Skype. Free to Skype users. Credits (Bing Rewards) for Cells and Landlines. IM and SMS supported. Nothing is better IMO, especially when you need it from practically every platform out there and practically every form factor.

But for Skype and Viber, doesn't the person you're calling have to have it too? What if you need to use your phone to call (using wifi) someone who doesn't have it, or maybe make a call to a business?

Groove IP & Talkatone uses Wifi to make calls. They also give you a phone number to use. They do not work with Google Voice anymore, due to Google blocking third party apps protocol.

"TEXTFREE" - by "pinger"

I was gonna set up a WiFi cheap phone for someone and give of to them? I set it up the other night... Real phone number, send and receive texts, receive calls from any phone. For my quick tests? It worked okay..

Yes, I use both and both are excellent. Talkatone is easier to set up, but integration with the stock phone dialer is better in GrooVe IP.

WiFi calling apps are very important in case of any emergency or network disconnected situation. Here is the list of top 5 WiFi calling apps:

1. Rebtel
2. iCall
3. Pinger
4. WiCall
5. KakaoTalk

Hope it will help you.

No.

Skype can call Landlines and Cell Phones over Wi-Fi or Cellular, and even send regular SMS that way (can save money in some cases) using Skype Credits. You can do this from your Phone, Tablet, PC, or a Web Browser.

Like I said, Bing Rewards are your friend. I've never had to pay for credits, and I still have over $9 worth on my account. I stopped using Bing Rewards last year. I racked them up fast because I use defaults on my devices. As a result, I earned a lot from Bing Searches on my Windows PC.

You can also call other Skype users over WiFi or cellular for free, and doesn't use credits. You can do conference calls that way as well. Group Video is coming in the future.

Facebook Messenger and even the Facebook for Android app had Voice Calls for several months now. The quality is, surorisingly, very good.
