I noticed this a couple days ago, can not figure out what it is, I don't wanna delete it and have something mess up. so I'm just curious to what its for. I'm trying to clear out my phone for excess space.
After doing a little searching, FOTA means "Firmware Over The Air". I believe (but I could be wrong) it's purpose is to stop manufacturer's updates, and does not seem to matter if you remove it or not. What I don't understand is what kind of over the air update could you get on a custom rom. Oh well.
makes sense, could it possibly be for the new BACKside updater? but kill wouldn't make much sense for that purpose. huh, guess ill keep it. thanks guys
Its part of Cyanogenmod. Its purpose is to prevent an OTA update from trashing your custom rom. It isn't that important to us, VM wrecked LG'S ability to OTA update our phones anyway. I leave it alone, it isn't that big, and unless you use something like Apps2rom you can't use the space anyway.
