Which KF do I have?

Someone just gave me a KF but I can't tell if it's 1st gen, 2nd gen, or even if it's HD. I checked settings/about but couldn't see anything.

How can I tell?

Check things like the placement of the volume buttons. Are they raised or even with the case surface.
Does the back have the two speakers that line up with the more polished black strip against a flat black body.
Is the device registered?
