Why I'm glad to not use iPhones

My GF uses iPhones, and when she upgraded to a new iphone, her contacts did not completely sync over via icloud. It was unclear which contacts get saved. Whenever I switch to a new Android phone (or flash a new rom), getting my contacts back are a non-issue, they ALL get synced up in minutes.

And when she wanted to back up her photos, she was unclear if ALL of photos were copied to the computer. Windows 8 can import photos from iphone 5, but it is unclear if ALL of the photos are imported. I'm just glad that with android phones, you just drag and drop.

And working with iTunes software is a pain. It is a confusing mess. They don't allow you to view your photos, which seems weird.

I'm not writing this to bash Apple or iPhones. iPhones are great phones, they do some things better than Android phones. I'm just glad that I don't have to deal with some of very unnecessarily confusing and frustrating parts of the iphone system.
 
The most irritating thing apple is not a major headache. It is the constant little headaches that pop up consistently when you try to do simple things and you bash your head against their overly restrictive controls.
 
Every IOS update they release there is a huge number of ppl who have call issues with either making or receiving. Not to mention they send millions of updates at once and there servers crash! It feels good to have an android I sure do love my gnex!
 
iphones work great when it comes to basic stuff like phone calls, texting, and face time, but when you go beyond that, it gets very complicated very fast. I remember when I was adding Gmail to the iphone's email program, it took a lot of intensive Google-fu to figure it out. And the weird complicated steps were frustrating.
 
The most frustrating thing I found with iOS is setting a sound file as a ring tone. The second most frustrating thing was moving contacts over to an iPhone.
 
I really dislike Saab cars but if someone gave me one, id give it a spin, maybe keep it a month and then sell it.
I really dislike Apple phones but if someone gave me one, i wouldnt even boot it. it would be straight on facebay :)
Im not being ignorant, i have messed around with iphones but i really dont see the attraction other than the build ;)

Think Apple has often had times when they've under-estimated the number of servers needed when they roll something out. Like everyone is trying to do it at the same time. Maybe they should try staggering it over a few days. Instead of trying to do the whole world at once.

Sure MobileMe had a meltdown on launch day. Think it took them a week to get it right and working properly, and were giving credit as well for the inconvenience. Steve Jobs apologised for it in person. There was a problem with the original iPhone activations at launch, which you done at home via iTunes. Apparently some people couldn't complete their activations for about 3 days.

MS doesn't seems to have server overloading like the way Apple does. Every month "Patch Tuesday", that's a lot of PCs all over the world downloading Windows updates.
 
There idea of staggering was a couple of hours. One time zone was at one time n so forth. You would think they would of did it over a couple of days. Apparently apple doesn't think.
 
The Mrs. Uses an iPhone and loves it. She has been with them for a long time. I don't mind iPhone. Who knows next year I may have an iphone. I like my phones the way they come. I phones seem to work great a do everything it is supposed to do.

I did notice about the monthly Windows update "Patch Tuesday" was actually "Patch Wednesday Evening" for me. :D Maybe it is staggered by time-zones, or it's just the time-zone difference between China and the US?

I think Apple definitely do stagger OS X updates. Friend of mine in the UK always had his Mac update about 4 days before I was notified about the same update. And doing OS X update downloads has never been a problem for me. Maybe because the Mac OS X division of Apple knows what they're doing and what to expect. They're not caught with their pants down, as they say. :D
 
Possibly! I work tech for a cell co and that wed they did the update we got slammed and my friend at apple said they had a 45 min wait to speak to them over the crash and issues with the update. Its never happened this bad as it did with 7 iOS update so idk what happened it just made me not want to ever get one.

Dont blame you man. If i wasnt such a geek id probably be an iphone user too if i could afford one.
Im the type who has to tinker with a cars engine, as a kid, i was always getting punched around by my dad for taking things apart. Ive always been into kinda underground scenes and music. Hate most pop... im an android dude lol :beer:

At least Apple actually sends updates. Unlike many Android manufacturers, who abandon their phones, their users, and any support shortly after releasing their phones to the market.

Look up the Samsung Vibrant and T-Mobile fiasco a few years back. Samsung purposefully withheld a Froyo update, so as to force Galaxy S owners to purchase the next Galaxy phone. Lawsuits were filed over it. Nothing has changed since then, LG and Samsung are among the worst when it comes to support.

Samsung yes. My original UK purchased Galaxy S did not receive updates from Froyo because I was using it in China. In the end I rooted and put CM7 on it. No problem with the current Galaxy Win, which was bought in Hong Kong, that's receiving updates ok so far.
 
Only manufacturers I would trust are Google and HTC. The Nexus seemed to be a nice phone for great price, at least Google will push out updates.
 
I'm sure both Samsung and HTC could be bad if you had a carrier customised/supplied phone, because then any software updates are down to whims of carrier. That's what most subsidised handsets are, carrier customised with their bloatware and junk and unpredictable updates. That's one to the iPhone, and Nexus phones as well. Carriers can't cripple, mutilate and lobotomise them. That's the thing with the iPhone, you'll always get it as Apple intended, and NOT the Verizon, AT&T, Sprint or China Unicom version of it

You'd expect that, whereas actually the generic unlocked Galaxy S2 was the last UK variant to receive the 4.1.2 update. Yup, the GS2, originally released with GB 2.3.4, was updated to 4.1.2 early this year. :)

HTC I've no experience of after the Desire Z, which they more-or-less abandoned after 2.3.6 citing "lack of memory" for not updating to ICS. No worries.... an AOKP build of Android 4.0.4 did the business and the CPU is good for 1.2GHz (vs the stock 800MHz) with a third-party kernel.

Kind of like how the Nexus S got updated to 4.1.2 while the original Galaxy S got cut off at 2.3.6 because of the same lack of memory excuse.
