Help Wi-fi getting "empty signal"?

So hey there. My issue is the following:
So it turns out that I've got a Wi-fi connection in my house after many years of needing a decent internet access. This means that my phone's connection is now obsolete. However, even if I connect to the wi-fi signal, nothing loads like if I didn't have any internet access. I've tested this on more than one connection, so I know the router/modem isn't the issue (I've connected several things to it to test, like more phones, two laptops and a Nintendo 3DS).

It's been a while ever since I got my plan, so maybe this detail is important. What happens is that like almost one year ago, I tried to install Cyanogenmod on this phone, but since it wasn't compatible with it (GT-S5830M), I soft-bricked the thing. After some digging around on the web, I found a solution with using Odin to flash the phone. The thing is, that the image I got to flash it corresponded to a GT-S5830C, but so far I haven't seen any issue. Perhaps this is the issue?

Also, thanks for taking the time to read my plight, at the very least~
