Can the Galaxy S be used as a wifi hot spot?

Can I just confirm that my understanding of the concept of a wifi hotspot is correct in this context. If I connect my Galaxy S to the internet via 3G for example I will then be able to connect my laptop to the Galaxy via a wi fi connection?

Correct you can connect up to 5 devices to your phone using wifi.

Are the UK networks (specifically T mobile and 02) able to disable this option to prevent you using the phone as a modem?

Its a feature of the phone they sell you, so seems unlikely they would care as long as you dont go over your "unlimited" internet allowance
