Help WiFi on = no signal / No WiFi = signal but no 4g

Help please,

I currently own a T-Mobile Sidekick 4g

I have an internet plan

When I turn on my WiFi my signal bars go away. If I try to make a call it says "no network" or something similar.

When I turn off my WiFi my signal bars come back and I can make calls but I cannot see my 4g icon.

Help!!! It's pretty annoying because I don't want to use my phone internet when I get home so I turn on my home WiFi but I cannot make calls and I'm afraid I'm not receiving them either.

I got the 4g back when WiFi is off by checking 'Use packet data' check box in settings > wireless and network > mobile networks.

But I still have no signal bars when I turn WiFi on.

I think that is a setting on whether to continue to keep voice/TXT on when on wifi. Also normally VOIP calling would work but that has been malfunctioning for a few months now.
