Root Will I need to relock/unroot my phone in order to get a replacement from Sprint?

Recently the bottom of my screen has quit working. Pretty much completely. I've tried bending the metal chassis a bit to see if that would help. It did fix it for maybe 2 hours before i had to bend it back into place again, but just today it quit working all together and I have no ability to use a small portion of the bottom of the screen. It's annoying and frustrating and sometimes it takes maybe 5 tries before i can successfully get past the lock screen. I'm considering bringing it in to a sprint store to get a replacement.

But from what i've read, If you unlock your bootloader and put the phone in S-on, it voids your warranty and sprint won't replace your phone. I don't know if this is true, but if it is, can anyone please tell me if relocking/unrooting won't tip them off, and how to unroot and relock my bootloader? Also, If i need to put a stock ROM back on it, please let me know.

I don't want to go in asking for a new phone and let them know I've been tampering with it before I know I WOULD, in fact, be penalized by it. Thanks in advance.

i took mine in with the bootloader unlocked. Just flash a stock ROM on there so the techs dont give you any lip and they will replace it. Same thing happened to mine, bottom touch stopped working and they replaced it no questions asked.

Hello,

Granted that I'm a newbie myself to all of this, I can tell you for sure I have read in many threads here on the all things root section of EVO-D4G ....that once you unlock bootloader it will say

I've taken my phone to sprint two times since unlocking it. I the first time was for a bad battery. I didn't reflash to stock that time which while it didn't affect them fixing it it did limit how much they were willing to do to test it. They replaced the battery no questions asked.

The second time was for a bad touch screen. I did reset to stock just to make it easier for them. No problems at all with that encounter. In fact most of the technicians (or at least the ones I've dealt with) appreciate that you know more than what the phone manual told you :-)

Basically, if it's a software issue they can't do anything if you flashed a rom other than their own. I always keep a backup of the stock rom on hand in case I have to go to sprint.

Bro,
Rooting and Unlock does removes handset from warranty cover but ur problem is hardware related and is completely under manufacturer fault so it will be replaced or repaired immediately.
However u should not take any chance so try to restore it to as original as possible.
Flash stock and lock bootloader... :p just in case.

Regards
