Root Will this root my phone?

Ok I appologize in advance for asking such a rookie/noobie question but I really wanna root my evo shift. Its 2.3.3. But how do I know if its gingerbread? Will this app root my phone? >.<

Don't attempt this unless you want to stare at the gingerbreak screen for the rest of your life.

Just try to read read read up on the information provided by this forum. I know it can be frustrating to try and learn all the language but over time, you'll get it. The best of luck to you
 
2.3.3 = gingerbread. Android number versions are word coded. cupcake, donut, eclair, froyo, gingerbread, honeycomb, icecream etc.

In order to root your shift, you will have to downgrade it to Froyo first. and then root it and then you're going to have to flash a custom kernel to get gingerbread back. research this forum and you'll find plenty of helpful links. sticky threads are recommended.

Good advice.. other than you need to flash a Gingerbread ROM not Kernel :D
