wipe cache partition

I have a samsung galaxy prevail on boost mobile it is not rooted or modified. I am trying to free up some internal memory. Will wipe cache partition free up space without affecting my installed apps, contacts, etc. in short will it hurt my phone

You should safely be able to wipe the cache partition. It may take longer to boot up the first time after clearing the cache.

All of your apps/data are on the /system and /data partitions and won't be affected by wiping the cache.
