wont pick up my gmail emails or let me add another mail account over pop3?

my htc hero wont pick up my gmail emails anymore??? did to start with but now it wont??

i have tried to add another e-mail address onto the handset and gave the correct pop3 settings but all i get is 'cannot connect to the mail server to verifiy your account information, your server is not repsonding'


any ideads?

Had same issue with my new Hero, after much troubleshooting myself on this one, and if you check out google blogs a few ppl there had the same issue, download appmanager, backup all your apps to SD card, factory reset your phone, configure google mail on startup

ive done this... but now i can't send a email through the google mail.... just stays in the outbox as sending.....
