Won't power up.

so, I let about 4 hours of video run yesterday on my N7 (2012) and I presume the battery ran out of juice -- I put it down and forgot it was on. Today, after having it plugged in for 3-4 hours, it still won't come back on. Any thoughts?

I've never let it run down to turn itself off before, maybe it just needs several hours to come back, but a little disconcerting.

btw, I tried several plugs . . . all of them are reliable.

Thanks.

THanks. I think it was a charging issue. I hooked my portable "mycharge" to it (great product, btw) and after about 30 minutes it started up -- it said I only had about 8% battery. Again, the tab was plugged into various plugs for several hours, but apparently with nothing happening.

After it booted with 8%, i plugged it into a wall charger . . . it didn't recognize it right away. Which, of course, is odd. After wriggling the plug, it started to charge. There is nothing loose about the connection, from what I can tell. And all of the wall chargers I have are reliable with any other micro usb device.

Oh well, weird but not worth more time, i guess.

Thanks for the advice.

Update: OK, it booted up with 8%, I plugged it into a charger and it got to 19%, but after trying to move to another charger in my office, I can't get it to recognize that the micro usb is plugged in (no matter which micro usb I use . . . i have several). Just keeps reading, "connect your charger." It is down to about 2% and will likely turn off any minute.

Have been reading that it might be a kitkat related bug. Anyone else get this? I am thinking that the docking station that using the pogo-pins to charge might be my only option. Anyone have one of those and wants to comment? Sucks that I might have to drop $60 to get a dated device to start working again.

Your USB port may be intermittent, it's unfortunately a common(ish) complaint with the original N7.

It's worth popping off the back and inspecting the port and all connectors including the battery connector before you try anything else.

I doubt it's related to the OS.

Thanks, John. I'll try that first.

You also might have to leave your device on charger for a day or two. If it completely dies sometimes this is necessary, which has happened to me before.

All fixed. Was the charging port. Put a new charging port / headphone flex cable in and good as new. Thanks for insight and help..

Hey how easy hard was the micro USB replacement? Mine is getting that way too.
I still have 18months warranty left but don't wanna have to send the thing away.
When you opened it up, are there any obvious tamper seals that would void my warranty if I open her up?
