Wrong way S Pen... Any hope?

I'm almost too embarrassed to post this. I was in bed in the dark using the S-pen on my beloved Note 5, when my rambunctious kitten jumped on me demanding to be fed. Careful to not lose it, I inserted the pen... the wrong way.

I haven't tried to remove it for fear of breaking it. Can this be fixed? If not, will my Square Trade warranty cover it?

Aghhh, I'm such an idiot.

Well, the pen is out, but it is not working. The screen is not responding, and nothing happens when it's removed from the phone. Boo.

Watch the YouTube videos. I think some said taking it out with paper or something got it out with everything in tact.
Maybe it can still help you.

Too late, it's broken. But it looks like Square Trade is going to cover it, less my deductible.

This really is frustrating. I didn't force it in, and I didn't wrench it out. It only went in half way before I felt the stylus tip and realized my mistake and stopped. And yet it's ruined.

My wife and I can put our s-pens in either way with no problems. Maybe a defective product. I would think factory warranty.

Are you saying both you and your wife have inserted your s-pen inverted (clicker part first) with no adverse affects?

I just learned that turning off Pen Detection in Settings will enable the S-pen. Without the pen detection enabled, the off-screen memo feature doesn't work (I use this quite a bit), or the air commands. But most other functions I use seem to be working. So now I have to decide if it's worth the aggravation to send it in for repair.

I would guess that you and your wife do not have pen detection enabled. If you don't use the "auto-on" features, I guess it's not a big deal.

My apologies, I was thinking that you had turned it 180 deg. I would say if you have to do a claim anyway and get a new phone they it wouldn't hurt to try and get the S-Pen out even if its hard. Hopefully all you might need then is to get a new S-Pen.

My S-Pen somehow broke, and the broken piece is stuck inside. When I took it to Samsung service center, they say, to take it out they would have to open the unit (which can be done only by warming the device) and in that process, the motherboard may get damaged which they wouldn't cover in warranty. It sounded ridiculous. I am thinking of rather buying another S-Pen and store is separately, and let the broken piece rest in piece inside rather than shell out $250 for changing the motherboard. Can experts confirm if this would work?

OMG, I did it again! This time I understand how I did it though, and it makes me wonder if left or right handedness has something to do with people putting the pens in the wrong way.

I'm left handed, so I have to reach across the phone to put it away. I realized that this morning I did it underhanded, which felt more natural for the reach, but unfortunately oriented the pen the wrong way.

Good news, though. This time I did not try to pull it out until I had a chance to try to use the "paper" trick. I had trouble getting the paper to go in far enough, so I tried a plastic straw. I sliced the straw lengthwise with an Exacto knife and slid it in on the inside of the pen. It did not slide easily, so I bent the straw back and held it against the phone while I edged the pen out. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Eventually I got about 3 1/2 to 4 inches of straw into the slot and then carefully drew the pen out.

The pen detection still works!

Now, I don't know if the Samsung "fix" was applied while it was in for repair the last time, so take my experience with a grain of salt.
