Help Xoom wont authenticate with my netgear N300

While my android phone works just fine, my Xoom tablet won't link to my wireless router. Just keeps showing "Authentication problem". Never asks for a password or anything.
Help?!

Question 1) Which protocol are you trying to use?
Question 2) Which frequency range are you trying to use?
Question 3) What channel width are you trying to use?
Question 4) What encryption are you using?

For 802.11n on 5GHz frequency range, Xoom only works on channels 36, 40, 44, 48, 149, 153, 157 and 161 with a 20MHz channel width and WPA2 encryption.

woh, all of that stuff is way over my head!
Do I need to know all of that, and how would I determine it?

When we connected to my old router, the Zoom just asked for a password and off we went. This one does not even get that far.
thx:confused:

Most routers pseudo randomly pick their channel and channel width on the 5GHz band. Sometimes you're lucky and it picks a setting the Xoom is happy with. Sometimes it picks a channel the Xoom doesn't support (where you seem to be now).

You need to go into your router's settings to make it use only a setting the Xoom can tolerate.

The Router's software has 11 selections for 'channel' I tried each one and the tablet still says "authentication problem".
???

There are 11 channels in the 2.4GHz band. If you are using only the 2.4GHz freq, then it should be working.

I don't have further ideas for you without being there to look everything over. I'm sorry.
