Your plans to pair Incredible with car stereo

I'm scratching my heads on this one....

I have a Pioneer DEH-P6100BT. The head unit and INC phone are paired because I can get music. However, the hands-free phone is not registering. It worked on my HTC Touch Pro.

Any ideas?
WORKS.
got the phone paired. able to use hands free.
had to disconnect connection. while disconnected from hands free i went to bt audio and "connected to paired device". on DI i enabled bt visibility. i think i even scanned for device. so awesome to have pandora in car.

I have an old Eclipse head unit with a coax digital line in. Any suggestions on how I can utilize this to play music from the Inc and play it through the digital input?

I'm open to creative/expensive ideas, so long as they allow my HU to do the first and only digital to analogue conversion.

I'm going to have to try that. Thanks for letting me know!

I have a Kenwood DNX5120 head unit that uses the kenwood kca-bt200 blue tooth adapter. My Moto Droid worked perfectly, but I am having difficulty getting the incredible to pair. Any one else having this isse or better have a solution?

I currently use a pioneer AVIC F700BT. As far as streaming audio, my touch pro doesnt support that (and it would be to damn slow anyway). However the head unit has both SD and USB, so I keep all of my mp3s on flash drives in the glove box. I do use hands free calling which is amazing. I will continue to use it just for that basically, as the AVIC also has nav.

That head unit does not support streaming audio files via bluetooth. I just sold mine because of this.

so my phone is rebooting by itself when i turn off my car. i am connected with bt audio and hands free when i turn off the car. i wouldnt mind it, but when it reboots it is different. bad different. it looks the same but behaves weird. i have to re-reboot to get the phone to work correctly. anyone else?

Don't mean to hijack the thread but it's related. I've paired the Incredible with my Acura's stereo. The problem is that if the car's stereo system is on Bluetooth mode when I start the car and Incredible pairs up with it (or right after I finish a call routed thru the stereo system), Incredible's music app starts playing the song it was playing the last time. I've had iPhone for two years and it would NOT start playing music just because it's connected to the car's stereo system. Not fun! Any suggestions?

Yeah, I'm impressed with the ProClip system too, but have a month long road trip starting in a couple of weeks, so will have to find a temporary holder.
ducktape?

it looks like i will have to get in habit of pausing pandora and disconnecting the headunit from bt audio. maybe i can get by with just pausing pandora.....

I have an Alpine CDA-105 Head unit with Alpine Bluetooth KCE-400BT add on.

Pairing the phone works great. Streaming audio works but I don't get any artist/track information displayed, and I can't seem to browse music from the Radio. I'm hoping for a firmware update to the Alpine unit.

All I really need now is the perfect dash mount for the phone to use GPS. I refuse to buy the generic huge cradles that have been out there for a while, I want one made for the inc. that will attach somewhere on the dash.

+1

Although i have a sony hu i still have not been able to get the track info sent and im sure the unit sports it, hopefully we'l get an update shortly.

For those that don't have an AUX-in on their head unit (stereo) and don't want static from wireless FM transmitters:

Amazon.com: Planet Audio PFM2 Wired FM Modulator: Automotive

or any other similar wired FM modulator. Really simple to install if you know how to use a screwdriver. Just need a 3.5mm jack on your device. I bought the Pyle modulator and it has worked flawlessly with my iPod. No static whatsoever. I got mine for 15$ but the price for the Pyle is now 55$, demand must have gone up. The one I linked above is also 15$, which is cheaper than most wireless (read: garbage) transmitters.

Again, I can't vouch for the Planet Audio one, but my Pyle, which does the same thing, has been great.

Planning to go with this Bluetooth receiver for the car:
Amazon.com: Miccus BBMR-02 BluBridge 3.5mm Mini-Jack Rx - Bluetooth Stereo Music Receiver: Electronics

Decent reviews, USB charging and the thing that sets it apart is that it has a battery that plays for ~8hours and goes into sleep mode when idle. This means that I can pair it and leave it overnight and the next morning it will retain it's pairing information for when I get back in the car and it starts charging again when I turn the car on, theoretically. I think it's worth a try.

I think I'll use this to charge it:
Amazon.com: Scosche Dual USB Car Charger: Cell Phones & Service

The only other receiver option i'm considering is this:
Amazon.com: BlackBerry Remote Stereo Bluetooth Gateway for BlackBerry 8100, 8110, 8120, 8130, 8300, 8310, 8320, 8330, 8800, 8820, 8830, 9000 (Black): Cell Phones & Service

I almost purchased this Kenwood yesterday, but found out that it only handles hands free calling and won't stream music.
Kenwood KDC-BT645U CD receiver at Crutchfield.com

The other option I'm considering is this Sony model for the same price.
Sony MEX-BT3800U CD receiver at Crutchfield.com

They are both $199 with the installation kit and free shipping, and I don't want to put much more money into it given it will go into an old pickup that's not worth very much.

Anyone have experience with Sony car stereos that can weigh in.

It's weird. On my Touch Pro, I had to go in and manually set A2DP to start and hands free would automatically connect.

On the INC, the A2DP automatically connects and hands free does nothing when I try to connect manually.

RESOLVED!!! You have to go into the Bluetooth settings for the phone. Then, press and HOLD the paired device (head unit). This will open the settings for the head unit. Stereo was selected and automatic. However, the phone was not. Once I selected phone, it now connects!

What I was doing wrong was just pushing the device in the settings. I assumed there was no options. You have to hold it for a couple of seconds and more settings will open. Hope this helps!

Ive got experience with a sony unit from amazon that was about 220 with free shipping, and it works very nicely. Pairing takes about a minute initially, after that it automatically finds my phone within 15 seconds of turning the car on. Streaming music works well, unfortunately the song data doesn't transmit.
The unit came with an external mic as well which i think is necessary if you want to use the hands free calling, the internal mics font work well at all. The unit also has a usb port so i can charge my phone from it also.

How did it go? this is my only option if i want to go bluetooth. thanks!

My Rover has a Harmon Kardon factory unit with 6disc changer in the rear and luckly a tape deck in the headunit I use a simple tape adapter sounds so much better then FM Transmitters and is very reliable been using the same adapter for 5 years in 2 diffrent cars.
My old Honda Element that wsaa a work vehicle had an aux jack which was by far the best sound quality wish my new work van had aux or tape but no just CD (I don't even own CDs anymore lol)

Do you or anyone else have a problem when you hook the tape adapter to the DINC where it skips songs it will only play for like 3 seconds per song and then it moves to the next song automatically?

not sure if its the DINC or the tape adapter? it worked fine with the MOT Droid though.

thanks

I've got an Alpine CDA-9885 head unit. I bought the KCA-121B auxiliary input adapter and a Miccus BBMR-02 BluBridge. The Miccus came with the RCA to 3.5mm cable needed to connect them together.

The BluBridge works very well. Pairing the phone was no problem and I was able to stream Pandora on high quality during my entire commute home (45 minutes) without any issues at all. If you're looking for a bluetooth solution the Miccus is an easy recommendation.

Question for those using a 3.5mm jack directly to AUX input.

Isn't this effectively "double-amplifying" the signal? Don't you need something to create a line-out from the incredible?

ProClip Mounting System*-*Device Holders and Dashboard Vehicle Mounts
incredible version wont be ready for 6 weeks, i heard. but they look convenient.
proclips are nice....ive got one that i had from my blackberry storm..fits the INC pretty good with a case on it.....just drill a hole on the side of the cradle to slip the charger thru....

I'm about to upgrade my car stereo, and for about $30 to $70 more I can go with a bluetooth version, so I can stream music and hopefully books from audible.com as soon a they develop the app. I am planning to get the Verizon car dock or something similar to use the Google Nav. From reading posts in the Nexus One threads, the N1 streams music and phone calls well using bluetooth, and will pause music for nav instructions or a call.

Is it safe to assume the Incredible would work the same way? Also, I'd like to hear how others are planning to use their Incredible in the car. Ideally I'd like to drop the phone into the dock with the minimum of connecting charging cables, syncing cables, etc.

I'm in the same boat..I have an older MBZ and was looking at options, plus, I love Pandora..and might even use slacker.

doing it old school, just hooking my Dinc up to a headphone jack tape and throwing it in the deck. Sometimes sounds like shit in my bare bones '99 ford truck but it works for me

Mine does this too, but it doesn't really bother me. I just hit pause on the head unit and hit play on my Inc and it plays my current selection. I have a 2010 Tundra with JBL and love playing my songs via bluetooth with the Inc. The quality is way better than I thought it would be!
