Help droid 2 battery life?

Its difficult to tell since not many people have the phone, and the only real test is actually using it

my experience so far:
from fully charged and unplugged at 6am this morning: sync'd with my work email and four other email accounts as items arrive, notifications on, i had about 15% battery life when i got home from work at 5pm.
according to Battery Manager, Display is taking up 63%. not sure how to get this decreased. brightness level is at the minimum setting.

I get around 20 hours with screen brightness turned down, Bluetooth/GPS/WiFi off most of the time, and syncing kept to a minimum.

I am what most would consider a pretty heavy user. To put it into numbers, I usually have an average of 100 minutes of talk time per day, pushing 4 e-mail accounts, etc.

I typically unplug my D2 at 7:30am, and have to plug it in around 4pm.

I have found myself trying to find ways to conserve battery (by limiting my use) over the past 5 days. Then today, I thought, why? So I just ordered the OEM extended battery (34% higher capacity) from Verizon for $35+tax (use promo code: BAT30). Several reviews I've read say it only adds about 2mm thickness, and one reviewer said he had his D2 off the charger for something like 32 hours.

Sounds good to me!

first full day, unplugged at 8am, it's at 70% with everything on and running full steam, autosync full brightness bluetooth wifi

that's pretty good, on par with what my droid 1 got

with the extended battery, right? I can't see that being possible with the standard battery.

With my droid 1 i got about 20 hours out of it off a charge on the standard battery till my power button started screwing up and keeps my screen going off and on all day......now i get about 5 hours out of it...WOOHOO i'll be in a droid 2 tomorrow so yeah, we shall see.

I can typically get two days worth of use. That with conservative calling and browsing, corporate sync, several gmail accounts, bluetooth on and WiFi only used about a 1/3 of that time. Brightness is set around a 1/4 setting (right below the "o"). For what I'd call heavy use (Pandora for 3-4 hours, a few hours worth of calling) I can easily do a day.

Nope, standard battery
I literally don't see how that is possible. I rarely use wifi or bluetooth. Mine has been off the charger for 5 hours, and I'm currently at 40%.

I guess everyone's definition of "full steam" is a little bit different.

been off the charger since 7:30 am it's noon that's 4.5 hours im at 80%, I have the power widget on today set at wifi on, bt off, gps off, email sync on, and brightness set to auto, i've received 200 emails, 20 texts and been playing wordfued all day which has to sync up with online players.....hopefully that's specific enough to compare what your phone has done today, perhaps your battery is terrible.

Actually, my battery life is what I've come to expect (after 6 years with smartphones) based on my usage.

So far today, I've sent about 5 e-mails, received about 30, talked for about 45 minutes, played around on Kongregate (via 3G) for about 15 minutes, used Trapster for about 20 minutes, and downloaded 2 apps. Again down to 40% after 5 hours.

So far today, display (set to auto) and voice calls are tied for usage at 25% each.

yeah I'd guess that 45 minute phone call killed your battery.

mine says display 51 % followed by cell standby 15% then wifi 9% then idle 8% so I'm not making my phone work nearly as hard as yours, at least that's what it sounds like

Yeah, I guess I actually talk on my phones! :D It was actually like five 8 minute phone calls.

I also noticed in the benchmark thread that your results are about 6-7% lower than mine, which I thought was odd.

Extended battery and 32gb micro should be here any minute, I'll definitely post some usage stats on the battery after a few days use.

I've had my phone for two days and have been tinkering with it quite a bit today. It's been off the charger for 9hrs 41min and I'm at 40%.

hi im new.. but anyways i recently got the droid 2 (former iphone 3g user) and the iphone 3g had one of the worst batteries and i managed to get a full day; on the droid 2 i barely get through half the day with brightness all the way down & all the moto widgets gone + bluetooth off and not a lot of syncing ... is it a software issue ?! its being worse than my ex piece of poo iphone ( and i heard the D2 had amazing battery)

Give it a few days, these batteries have a "break in"period, after which the capacity gets much better.

I ordered the extended battery today because extra juice is never a bad thing, especially when it adds almost nothing to the thickness of the phone. Wish I had done it yesterday because the discount code BAT30 expired today.

Will the extended battery get in the way of the docks? (car, desktop?)
I've actually read a few places where people said the Droid 2 actually fits better in the car dock with the extended battery. I don't have either dock though, so I can't comment from personal experience.
