How Many Will be "FURIOUS" if Verizon doesn't get the equivilent?

Its like this people. If you want the most bleeding edge tech when you buy something, you're likely to feel screwed a few months later. Though I dont see anything supremely better then the Bravo coming up anytime soon.
As for me I just want a beefed up Eris.

I'm with Verizon because of the quality phone service. It's crazy. I can dial a number 1 time and talk to someone who is really far away for as long as I choose. Most AT&T subs can not say the same.

I will stay with them regardless of the phone selection but I will say that they better the passion or something better or I will write then a stern letter and stomp my foot.

I can understand op frustration. Verizon service, reception, customer service are all awesome...but all the great phones seems to be passing by. Look at nice Nokia phones, the iPhone, and now the great passion all passing by. VZW is great, but their management is making huge mistakes by wanting all control. Just my 2 cents.

What?

Obviously, I must have been assimilated by another Verizon altogether. All but ONE of the VZW reps I have dealt with seem to be in a competition over who can be the most cavalier when dealing with customers.

The network around here is a real POS. Constant drops. Erroneous messages ("the number you have dialed has been changed or disconnected"). And VZW swears that the Alltel/Verizon tower merge/beatdown has been completed here.

The sad thing is, as crappy as it is, it still beats the reception and service of Sprint in this area.

I agree with all when they say they hope the Bravo will come to VZW in january seeing as im elligable for upgrade then. My wife is a tech manager for a VZW and so far she has not seen anything on this phone but she has said people are talking about it there at her store they know nothing more than we do. The nexxus one which is supposed to be unlocked for any wireless company will work but I dont know about yall but I cant afford to spend 5 to 600 dollars on a phone so I guess I will stand back and hope VZW gets the Bravo. I will let u know if I hear anything.

What is boils down to is, everyone wants what they cannot have. Verizon has the best line up of phones. At Sprint are flagship phones are second rate phones on Verizon. We have the Hero, a second rate device to the Droid on Verizon, we have the BB Tour another second rate device to the Storm 2 on Verizon, we have the Palm Pre, whoop de do, you can have the pile of crap.

Everyone either wants the iPhone or wants the best phone that will compete with it.

I personally like the Droid, but being a Sprint customer I will settle with the Hero and wait patiently for the next best smart phone that is offered.

I am more than satisfied being on the fastest and yes I mean the FASTEST data network out there, just goole data transfer speeds of all wireless carriere and you will see what I mean.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I totally agree. Technology doesnt advance at an even pace. Every once in a while they take leaps ahead. The 3.7" AMOLED screen is a huge leap ahead of the 3.2" LCD screen with crappy resolution on the Droid Eris. Just because someone releases a 3.8" AMOLED screen after the Passion doesnt mean I would want to jump ship. And there isnt anything right around the corner that will be much of an improvement on that current technology. Same witht the Snapdragon processor. The Snapdragon is a huge improvement over the Eris processor and there isnt a 2 Ghz a few months away. Sure maybe a device will be released that is clocked a tad bit faster, but the improvement will be minimal and wont have me wanting to throw away my passion.

No, but there's a dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor, the QSD8672, which was announced over a year ago.

Technical Features for QSD8672 chipsets

The single-chip, dual-CPU QSD8672™ includes most of the above [QSD8x50] features, in addition to:
  • Dual CPUs, up to 1.5 GHz for faster response and processing
  • Low-power 45nm process technology for higher integration and performance
  • Higher-resolution WSXGA (1440 x 900) display support
  • High-definition (1080p) video recording and playback
  • Support for HSPA+ networks - 28 Mbps downloads and 11 Mbps uploads
  • Supports CDMA2000 1X, 1xEV-DO Rel 0/A/B networks
  • Improved 3D graphics - up to 80M triangles/sec and 500M+ 3D pixels/sec

That's built more for notebooks than phones. Continue reading the site. If best you might see it in a tablet. 1080p wouldn't even be noticible on a 4 inch display.

Well I stand corrected on the processor. I will say though, that if the Bravo came to Verizon with the 1 GHz processor and there was no evidence of lag anywhere on the phone I can say without a doubt that I would have no buyers remorse if this came out 2 months later.

No disagreement there. 1GHz is plenty fast in my mind. Just wanted to point out there does exist something better already. :p

Right now that's how it's being marketed because the 1GHz processors are just making their way to production builds. But it could easily be retrofit to next gen smartphones. BTW, that's 1080p recording as well as playback. Sure, it wouldn't benefit you much on the phone's display, but mini-HDMI out will probably make it's way to phones in the future so you could hook it up to an HDTV for playback. Hell, there's already a phone out there that does this, or at least one that was demo'ed. Saw it on Engadget or BGR in the past week or so.

Its not coming to T-Mobile. It just supports it just like it supports AT@T. I also read somewhere that Verizon and Google have a partnership going on and Verizon is getting exclusive phones. Why would Google give this phone to T-Mobile and not Verizon and if so why Tmo first Verizon second?
LOL why would they make this phone with the 3G frequency that ONLY TMo supports if it wasn't gonna be carried by TMo? People who popped in AT&T SIM cards could only use EDGE. But VZW will probably get a CDMA version of this phone, 6 months later, like usual.

It does depend on the area that you live in. Just like you said, I am in same boat...Where I live, the service area sucks and VZW is aware...but it's way better than other carriers out there. I was thinking (and may be other people can do this too) about calling VZW for a hybrid PRL and seeing if that would help with the issues. :)

Not so much FURIOUS as disappointed. My VZW upgrade was on Oct 13. Held out until Eris and Droid were released, checked them out both online and the stores, was impressed but not blown away. The Passion rumors got me all hot and bothered just to find out she's going to the prom with that other guy. I'm now going to wait until my wife's upgrade comes up (Jan 10). Her phoneline gets the extra $50 off or what ever. So... If no good news surfaces between now and then I going to have to settle with takin my hot cousin to the prom. Hopefully eclair or even 2.1 update for Eris will be ready by then, kinda prefer SenseUI over that choppy menu flows of M Droid. Thanks for the listen folks.

Does your wife know about the prom? lol

I'm not gonna be furious because I am a grownup and I realize it is just a phone.

Just teasing! Yeah, I couldn't really say it with a straight face even. If they don't sell such a phone when my enV Touch dies, I'll just get the cheapest thing with tethering and use my laptop for all of my internet stuff. My NE2 is up in Feb, but I am in no hurry to throw my money at a phone like the Eris. I really like the Droid but that keyboard makes me want to fight someone.

I hope we get a nice android phone, perhaps not something so tacky looking as the pictures HTC has been posting.

I found a slight inaccuracy with your analogies. Depending on where you live, going to the prom with your hot cousin can net you the same result at the end of the night, and frankly may be the preferred scenario. :D

Due to the fact that Verizon is doing their second bogo on droid and eris I think something is coming. Verizon is getting rid of as many erises as possible to make room for its big brother. I just don't see this as being a tmobile exclusive. The bogo ends on December 24th and according to the timeline we saw before the droid campaign ends on December 26th. I say give it a week and a half and well have some new news. I see the passion coming at the end of January after the holiday return period. I hope I'm right because I loved the eris except for the absence of the navigation and horrible battery life. Ill be sitting here with my horrible storm till then.

Yeah I may have inflated it a little!...so what!...LOL sorry I was a little heated, I was being flamed for mearly expreesing my opinion which I thought many others might have shared.

Whew SoCalMiles get some skin on that self...I mean if that was a flame then where I usually post it would have been classified as a spark off a match.

I can honestly say that your post has been repeated 100 times over the years with every carrier just change the complaints about the device with complaints about the network, support or service. I'm getting ready to order the Eris and I know as soon as my 30 day trial is up someone somewhere is going to offer another deal that I wished I coulda/woulda/shoulda got.

And no this wasn't a flame.;)

Your logic is sound. I am right there with ya. Time to chill for a few weeks. All the naysayers wilget there Nexus on a network that has 1/5th or 1/10th the 3g network. All good for you T-Mobile guys...glad you got a sweet phone...if T-Mobile actually sells it. I am fine with the Bravo or Passion, or whatever we get. I think HTC has flavors for all!
Side note. I just read somewhere the Nexus has 1gb for Apps. I will get the link for ya. What ya think about that?

We would have seen the FCC document confirming support for Verizon 3G bands by now if it were to release in January. If not, then they better get their ass in gear; there are a ton of holidays at the end of December, and no one will be around from the 23rd till January 3rd (rough estimation).

ya, verizon is getting another device for sure. the palm pre :p
Verizon begins internal webOS training -- Engadget

guess that explains your BOGO theory?

Not really. FCC can come in a week before the device launches. I think Google is just trying to hype this and VZW is not for the Droid return sake.
And the point about the Pre. We all knew that was coming. Training does not mean VZW wont get another Droid cuz the two phones are pretty different. They could launch pre early Jan and Passion late Jan. Training means nothing.

+1 on that. How late did we see the Droid pass the FCC again? And what's this? The Nexus One was just passed this Monday which is a slim week and a half before the speculated release date to tmobile. I don't remember any rules saying that it has to pass the FCC over a month in advance. Just saying. I really think we'll start hearing small leaks here and there after Christmas when this bogo ends. It's just so hard to wait though!! I never should've tried out the Eris because now I have Android FEVER!!! So my 30 days was up and I'm back my POS STORM...:(

What makes this funny is the fact that no one has really used the phone extensively enough to give a review since Google employees are under NDA. Everyone is whining about NOTHING!

The phone might suck! Who cares if it has a 1GHz processor in it. WTF are you doing on your phone thats going to take advantage of this? Oh wow your menus load .00000009 seconds faster? This phone isnt going to revolutionize anything folks. There is no Google talk data plan that you just pay 30 bucks a month for...

Its just another phone unsubsidized and unbranded by a cell company. Its basically the equal to the first generation iPhone payment wise.
