1. Do I need to necessarily root my phone to install this app? I am quite afraid of making any OS level changes.
2. Can I not have this Brut Mod Google Maps in addition to the default Google Maps coming with the system? Having only one App probably requires Rooting and Titanium Backup, as you have said?
3. Please give me exact link to the Brut Mod Maps. File name downloaded by me is maps4.6.0.4686-brut.apk.
4. Regarding Youtube, I wish to clarify that the Eclair version on Galaxy S probably had some kind of dynamic adjustment of bandwidth (whereas now, it is HQ or non-HQ only). Earlier, when I used to play Youtube while walking on the road, it used to be a low resolution video but when I reached home and played same video in Wi-Fi, it was automatically HQ. What I am trying to claim is that the video used to have some kind of dynamic and automatic sensing of bandwidth available and it used to adjust resolution accordingly to play back video almost instantaneously with Edge connection also.
1. Rooting is just like flipping the light switch on. Download Z4Root by Ryanza in the market. It can be undone.
2. Please re-read what Hrithan2020 had said. He only one map app installed which is brut mod maps. You need to be rooted(can be done easily), download titanium backup from market(free). Titanium backup can be used to remove the official google maps.
Anyway, I have no problem having both official and brut mod maps installed in the system.
3. That's the one. If you want both official and brut mod maps, download the renamed-tagged one.

Besides kies is a dumb software....
